Abstract:
A method for surface treating a continuous flow of workpieces includes the steps of fluidizing a stationary bed of surface treating media, aggitating the fluidized bed of surface treating to create a scrubbing action to the surface treating media, suspending the workpieces from an overhead conveyor located over the bed of surface treating media and moving the workpieces to be treated suspended from the overhead conveyor through the stationary, fluidized aggitated media bed subjecting the workpieces to the scrubbing action of the media. Further, an apparatus for surface treating workpieces which includes a reservoir for containing a bed or pool of surface treating media, a force vibration generating device for imparting a reciprocating force to the reservoir and therefore, the surface treating media contained in the reservoir, the reciprocating force having at least a vertical vector and an overhead conveyor means located over the reservoir for conveying the workpieces to be treated continuously through the reservoir and, therefore, through the media.
Abstract:
A finishing machine comprises a chamber which is mounted for vibratory motion about a horizontal axis. Finishing medium in the chamber is induced to flow in a generally helical path and is recirculated by means of a tray mounted externally of the chamber and connecting an exit opening with an entry opening which is laterally spaced from and lower than the exit opening.
Abstract:
A vibratory mill having a long, thin milling chamber which spirals upward in a conical arrangement from a center location within a housing to a point at the periphery of the housing. The configuration of the chamber improves the efficiency of the mill and promotes the use of a continuous operation rather than a batch process. Eccentrically mounted rotating weights cause the media and parts to migrate upward from a central receiving position to the periphery of the housing.
Abstract:
IN A VIBRATORY FINISHING MACHINE, AN ELONGATED THROUGH IS VIBRATED SO AS TO IMPART GENERALLY ORBITAL MOVEMENT TO THE CONTENTS ABOUT AN AXIS DISPOSED IN A HORIZONTAL PLANE AND ORIENTED AT A PREDETERMINED ANGLE WITH RESPECT TO A VERTICAL PLANE COMPRISING THE LONGITUDINAL AXIS OF THE TROUGH.
Abstract:
A resonant finishing apparatus having a finishing chamber is provided with means for recirculating parts and/or finishing medium between spaced portions of said chamber in response to resonant vibration of said chamber.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for improving the rate of surface treatment of industrial parts being treated in a continuous flow sonic finishing apparatus by adjusting the pressure exerted by the treating medium on articles being treated as they pass through the treating chamber.
Abstract:
A system for post-print processing of 3D printed parts includes an automated breakout system for separating 3D printed parts from printing media in a tray and a vibratory media cleaning system for removing printing media from the 3D printed parts. The automated breakout system includes a tray input mechanism, a bed including a first end disposed adjacent the tray input mechanism, the bed including one or more passageways configured to pass printing media through the bed, a vibration generator coupled to the bed and configured to vibrate the bed, and a part terminator disposed adjacent a second end of the bed. The vibratory media cleaning system include a vibratory bin, a vibration generator coupled to the vibratory bin and configured to vibrate the vibratory bin, an automated parts loader configured to introduce 3D printed parts to be cleaned into the bin, and an automated parts removal mechanism.
Abstract:
A long-travel annular vibratory barrel finishing apparatus for line-processing has an annular vibratory barrel constituted by at least one barrel line having opposing end barrel segments with a semicircular shape in plan and two straight barrel sections connected between opposing end barrel segments, such that the longer diameter (length) of said annular barrel is much greater than the shorter diameter (breadth) of the same. The annular vibratory barrel as a whole is mounted on a base through a plurality of springs for free vibration which is caused by a vibrator disposed at the center of the longitudinal axis of the annular vibratory barrel. As the vibrator is started, the annular vibratory barrel is vibrated to cause a spiral flow of mass therein. A workpiece transfer device is installed in association with the annular vibratory barrel or, alternatively, a workpiece charging device and a workpiece separating device are provided on the annular vibratory barrel, so that successive workpieces are line-processed automatically and continuously. The workpiece transfer device is arranged above the annular vibratory barrel in parallel with the latter, and is adapted to drive spindles carrying workpieces along the barrel while rotating the spindle. A workpiece chucking/unchucking section is provided at a portion of the path of the workpiece. The workpiece charging device and the workpiece separating device are disposed in parallel with each other at one end portion of the annular vibratory barrel.
Abstract:
A vibratory finishing machine includes a supporting frame, a processing tub, and a tub vibrating mechanism interposed between the frame and the tub. Workpieces and finishing media are introduced into the tub for processing, are vibrated to effect a finishing action, and are discharged from the tub through a discharge opening. The discharge opening is selectively opened and closed by a door structure which is not mounted on the tub for vibratory movement therewith as is conventional, but which is, instead, supported independently of the tub so that the tub vibrates relative to the door during finishing operations. The door is biased toward its closed position and is provided with a power-operated mechanism for moving it toward its open position. In the event of power failure, the biased door will move toward its closed position to prevent workpieces and finishing media from emptying from the tub.
