A molten magnesium alloy is supplied to a continuous casting apparatus provided with a movable casting mold to produce a cast material. The cast material is supplied to between at least one pair of rolls to perform an area-reducing operation (a rolling operation). The rolling operation is performed such that pressure is applied to the cast material using the rolls from at least three directions in the cross section of the cast material. A magnesium-alloy material obtained through the above-described production method has a fine crystal structure and is excellent in plastic processibility.

    摘要: A five-high rolling mill is disclosed which includes an upper work roll backed by an intermediate roll and a backup roll and a lower work roll backed up by a single backup roll. Control benders are provided on each of the intermediate roll and the upper and lower work rolls. In order to optimize the control of the rolling operation for skinpass rolling and the like, the control benders for the upper work roll and the intermediate backup roll are controlled so as to effect a control of the crown sheet over the entire width of the material being rolled, while the control bender for the lower work roll controls the sheet crown of the rolled material at the lateral side end portions, resulting in a composite control substantially improving the sheet quality and preventing edge wrinkles in the material being rolled. In the disclosure embodiments, the intermediate roll has a larger drum length than a predetermined maximum sheet width of rolled material to be rolled by the work roll.

    摘要: A mill stand having a pair of work rolls cooperating with at least one backup roll. Bending forces are applied to at least one work roll at or adjacent the ends thereof. The work rolls may be offset with respect to the backup rolls in either an upstream or downstream direction, and the bending forces may be applied in the direction of offset. The forces may be applied to both work rolls. An opposing force may be applied to the opposite side of the work rolls intermediate the bending forces applied to the work roll ends either through the strip tension differential or a direct application. A rolling mill stand having a pair of cooperating work rolls and cooperating backup rolls has a pair of first auxiliary rolls applying forces at or adjacent the ends of the work rolls. The work rolls may be offset and the bending forces are applied in the direction of offset. Second auxiliary rolls may be provided intermediate the first auxiliary rolls to provide an opposing force.
