Abstract:
The invention contemplates a plasma-transferred-arc torch construction wherein, optionally, a single releasable clamp enables rapid separation of downstream-end fittings of an anode subassembly and a cathode subassembly, as for inspection, servicing and/or replacement; in an alternative option, release of the single clamp enables rapid further disassembly of the entirety of the respective subassemblies from mounting structure which includes the single clamp. These options are available for torch structure incorporating provision for sealed independent fluid-flow supplies of (a) coolant serving both electrode subassemblies, (b) plasma gas serving an annular interelectrode gap at the downstream end of the torch, (c) a metallic, ceramic or other powder fluidized in a carrier gas, for torch-deposition of the powder, and (d) a shielding gas to protect the zone of plasma-transfer of the arc and any powder conveyed therewith.
Abstract:
A metal spray gun of the arc spray type has a nozzle-positioner member of electrically insulating material that is disposed between a gas inlet and an arc zone. A primary stream of gas is flowed through a through passage in the nozzle-positioner member, and seat surfaces in the through passage receive tips of individual electrically conductive contact tube assemblies that are biased outwardly away from one another. The nozzle-positioner member aligns the contact tube assemblies and configures the gas stream such that each metal wire is immediately enveloped in gas flow as it emerges from its contact tube and remains in that enveloping gas flow throughout the region between the contact tube tip and the arc zone. The spray gun produces quality metal spray coatings with lower gas pressures and has lower noise levels.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the production of plasma-sprayed coatings at low surface speeds and long stand off distances e.g. more than 7.5 cm. A zone of sub-atmospheric pressure is maintained through which the hot gas effluent and entrained coating powder produced by a plasma torch is caused to pass on its way to the substrate being coated. The sub-atmospheric zone preferably extends over the whole path of hot gas effluent and entrained coating powder. Apparatus is provided which comprises a plasma torch and a chamber preferably a tube together with means for maintaining a zone of sub-atmospheric pressure in the chamber. In the case of the tube this may be a spiral passage mounted in said tube which injects a sheath of gas moving along the inner surface of the tube in a spiral path.

Disclosed are a display screen of an image display system capable of displaying a 3D (three-dimensional) image and providing an image with a high contrast ratio in a bright room and a method for manufacturing the same. The display screen includes: a Fresnel lens layer; a reflective layer formed the light-exit surface of the Fresnel lens layer to reflect image light; and a protection layer formed on the light-incident surface of the Fresnel lens layer, wherein one surface of the protection layer may have an embossed pattern.
Abstract:
Plasma torch or plasmotron for processing metals in the air or under water. The plasma stream issuing from the torch is shielded by a conical spray of water issuing from the torch. The water spray is given a rotary or whirling motion, thereby increasing its effectiveness in shielding the plasma stream, and insuring outer water shielding of the plasma stream with its changing shape and movement in accordance with changes in the medium wherein the processing is carried out.
Abstract:
Provided is a thermal spraying apparatus that forms a film on a target by thermally spraying a conductive powder by plasma, the thermal spraying apparatus including: a first electrode provided with a first cavity through which the conductive powder from a powder supplier passes; and a second electrode provided with a second cavity through which the conductive powder from the first electrode passes, in which the plasma is generated between the first electrode and the second electrode.
Abstract:
This disclosure provides an apparatus, system, and method for thermal spraying a metal cladding on a substrate. The apparatus may include a housing having a first electrode and a second electrode disposed in the housing. The second electrode can be spaced apart from the first electrode. The apparatus includes a first contact tip removably attached to the first electrode and a second contact tip removably attached to the second electrode. The position of the first contact tip and second contact tip is configured to be selectively adjusted on the first electrode and the second electrode to provide a plurality of contact surfaces for a feedstock wire. The apparatus includes a nozzle between the first contact tip and the second contact tip. The first contact tip and the second contact tip are configured to contact and deflect a wire towards the nozzle.
