An electrostatic precipitator with circulating dust collection plates is provided, in which, in a housing for electrostatic dust collection that includes an inlet and an outlet formed therein, the dust collection plates are configured so as to be immersed in cleaning water while circulating in response to driving of a circulation drive motor, so that it is possible to automatically clean the dust collection plates without stopping the operation of the electrostatic precipitator, simplify a configuration for cleaning the dust collection plates, save cleaning water for cleaning the dust collection plates, reduce manufacturing costs, and facilitate follow-up management.

A method of cleaning at least one collecting electrode of an electrostatic precipitator includes applying, in a first mode of operation, a first average current between at least one discharge electrode and at least one collecting electrode, and switching from the first mode of operation to a second mode of operation in which a second average current is applied between the at least one discharge electrode and the at least one collecting electrode, the second average current being a factor of at least 3 higher than the first average current, to achieve a forced cleaning of the at least one collecting electrode.

A method for monitoring operation of a rapper in an electrostatic precipitator using a rapper control system is described. The method includes determining model electrical characteristics of the rapper. The model electrical characteristics of the rapper correspond to model mechanical operating characteristics of the rapper. The method also includes storing data corresponding to the model electrical characteristics and the model mechanical operating characteristics of the rapper, determining actual electrical characteristics of the rapper, and comparing the actual electrical characteristics of the rapper to the stored model electrical characteristics to determine actual mechanical operating characteristics of the rapper.

A comprehensive multiple rapper control system controls rapping intensity with enhanced accuracy, controls a large number of rappers in any desired sequence with intensity control for each individual rapper, and includes alarm circuitry for reliably indicating open circuited and short circuited conditions in the rapper coils or in the electrical connections to the rapper coils. For enhanced accuracy, a short boost pulse of full lift energy is applied immediately prior to a lift pulse of controlled energy. The boost pulse overcomes initial rapper plunger sticking forces so that total rapper plunger lift accurately reflects the electrical energy supplied during the subsequent controlled pulse. Advantage is taken of the relatively constant boost pulse which is supplied to every rapper in the system regardless of the energy supplied during the control pulse to provide an alarm circuit. Current through each rapper plunger lift coil is sensed during at least a portion of the boost pulse. An alarm condition is signaled if this sensed current is outside of a predetermined range.

A method for the acceleration of an electromagnetic rapper, particularly for an electrostatic precipitator, which includes a metal cylinder as a hammer, an electrical coil for lifting the metal cylinder and a coil energizer for energizing the electrical coil. For cleaning a surface the metal cylinder is lifted by an initial electrical pulse generated by the coil energizer. The coil energizer supplies the electrical coil with an additional electrical pulse so that the metal cylinder is accelerated when it has reached the maximum point of its trajectory.

An improved method and system is provided to control the rapping process used to clean the internal collection plates and discharge electrodes of electrostatic precipitators. The system obtains the performance characteristics of a first rapper and calculates a rapper lift value. The system then obtains performance characteristic data from two or more additional rappers and calculates rapper lift values for each of the rappers. Finally, the system compares the rapper lift value of each additional rapper and adjusts its performance characteristics so that it substantially approximates the performance characteristics of the first rapper.

For dislodging of particulate material from precipitator plates, high voltage electrodes, hoppers, conveyance ductwork, etc., an electro-mechanical rapper module is removably combined with an electronic controller module in a single cylindrical unit that can be controlled and operated independently of any central controller. The rapper is preferably of the type that utilizes a spring-loaded hammer upstroke: being largely independent of gravity it can operate in any orientation. The controller drives the rapper in repetitive bursts at a rate of about 3 impacts per second, and provides selection of impact amplitude, on time and on delay. The unit can be controlled from a remote switch closure, and can be actuated manually by a pushbutton test switch on a control panel inside a top cover. The controller and rapper can be readily separated by removing a clamp, and can be operated as separate electrically-connected units.
摘要:
A rapper plunger displacement indicator for an electrostatic rapper control system of the type which supplies a pulse of controlled energy to the rapper coils. Means are provided for sensing current supplied to each rapper coil during the controlled energy pulse. The resultant sensed current is integrated with respect to time over the period of the pulse of controlled energy, and the result of the integration indicates plunger displacement. In a system where a short boost pulse of full lift energy is supplied immediately prior to the lift pulse of controlled energy for enhanced control accuracy, the integration is performed only during the controlled energy pulse, thus ignoring the boost pulse.
