The plurality of grinding flights extends from the agitator and is configured to grind a material bale as it is introduced into the tank. The basket extends from the opening of the tank and is configured to direct the material bale toward the plurality of grinding flights.

Each rotor of the rotor assembly can include a number of blades that are symmetrical around a horizontal and a vertical axis. Each rotor can include a number of radial extensions forming gaps into which the blades insert. The blades can be secured within the gaps by wedges that apply an inward force against the blades when the wedges are secured into the gaps. The radial extensions and blades can include keyways into which keys insert to prevent the blades from escaping the gaps. The secondary shredder may also include a stationary knife assembly that includes multiple stationary knives that are positioned on the same side of the rotor assembly.

摘要： A cutting apparatus and an associated method for slitting a tobacco sheet material into cut pieces used to form smoking articles are provided. The cutting apparatus includes a rotatable cutter assembly having a drum member configured to rotate about an axis defined thereby. The cutter assembly includes a plurality of knife members disposed about the periphery of the drum member and extending radially therefrom. A fixed counter-knife assembly is disposed adjacent to the periphery of the drum member and is configured to interact with the rotatable cutter assembly during rotation thereof about the axis. The counter-knife assembly includes a ledger member having a plurality of cutting insert members removably engaged therewith. The cutting insert members are configured to interact with the knife members during rotation of the cutter assembly with respect to the counter-knife assembly so as to slit the tobacco sheet material received therebetween into cut pieces.

摘要： A cutter assembly is presented for mounting to one or more hammers of a rotor assembly of a grinding machine. The cutter assembly includes a base, a tip and a fastener securing the base and the tip to the hammer The base includes a key having side walls extending upwardly from a surface of the base and spatially oriented as sides of a pyramid that is truncated before reaching their apex. The tip includes a keyway having side walls extending inwardly from a lower surface into a body of the tip and spatially oriented as sides of a pyramid. The keyway mates with the key of the base. The tip includes at least one, and preferably two, cutting edges disposed on opposing ends of the tip. In one embodiment, the tip is reversibly mountable to the base such that the cutting edges may be selectively used within grinding operations. In one embodiment, at least a portion of side walls of the truncated pyramid key and keyway are curved in a plane parallel to the surface of the base.

摘要： A shredder includes a rotor supporting a plurality of multi-point cutters that mesh with a counter-knife having generally V-shaped grooves. Each cutter has at least one corner defined by an intersection between two contiguous side faces of the body of the cutter. The corner defines a plurality of cutting points spaced apart along a first direction. The cutters are mounted on the outer peripheral surface of the rotor such that the first direction of each cutter is substantially tangent to the outer peripheral surface, and such that the corners of the cutters mesh with respective V-shaped grooves in the counter-knife as the rotor rotates about its axis. The multiple points of each cutter encounter and mesh with the groove in the counter-knife in a sequential fashion.
