摘要: A mobile process to reclaim spent aqueous glycol solutions used as heat transfer fluids and which contains deleterious contaminants, oil/grease, corrosion products, and additives such as buffers and corrosion inhibitors. Particulate contaminates and oil/grease are removed by passing the solution through an ultrafiltration membrane. The dissolved contaminants are removed by passing through a series of ion exchange resin (IER) vessels. The reclaimed glycol solution is reused after replacing the required additives. One embodiment provides for central processing of the filtration and absorption media housed in a mobile enclosure, such as a trailer. The mobile trailer may be used at various collection sites for cleaning and reprocessing spent glycols. After the media are spent, the mobile trailer is returned to a central processing facility for regeneration of the filtration and absorption media. The waste produced by the regeneration is concentrated at a single treatment and disposal facility.

摘要: A liquid treatment mechanism may easily be snapped on, or otherwise attached, to the neck of the single orifice bottle, such as a standard five gallon water bottle. An end cap is connected to a first tube of the liquid treatment mechanism, the liquid treatment element (such as activated carbon) disposed in the first tube and extending from the second end of the first tube to a termination position near, but spaced from, the first end of the first tube. A liquid inlet allows for the passage of liquid from exteriorly of the first tube into contact with the liquid treatment element. A dispensing tube (which may include a cyst or other particle filter) is disposed adjacent the first end of the first tube and extends from the liquid treatment element. An air inlet (e.g., a free about 0.02-0.1 inch diameter hole) is disposed in the first tube near its first end and exteriorly of the dispensing tube. A sheath of porous material may wrap the activated carbon, which may be either in hollow tubular or block form. Non-potable water may be treated by breaking an ampoule containing about 300 mg of calcium hypochlorite which is placed into the bottle and is dissolved by the non-potable water before the first tube is inserted into the bottle, and the water dispensed through it.

摘要: Filter cartridge for the improvement of the quality of drinking water, consisting of a vessel (10) with sieve-type covered apertures (18, 44) filled with a compound (16) of ion exchange resin and/or absorbent carbon together with a bacterio-statically effective material, in particular silver, in dissociable form, through which the water to be treated is conducted mainly in a downwards direction, the vessel having a collection space (48), for a limited quantity of water, originating from the vessel's floor (42), which is separated from the outlet aperture (44). Thus drying out of the cartridge through non-use over a longer period of time or through misuse is prevented and the effectiveness of the bacterio-statically effective material is retained to combat the feared multiplication of germs in the treatment compound.

摘要: A water treatment system and related components for reducing contaminants in normal drinking water are provided. An elongated tube has first and second ends and is connected with an interference fit at its first end to the interior surface of a neck of a conventional bottle. Water treatment media is disposed within the tube adjacent its second end, such as activated charcoal, halogenated resins, ion exchange resins, calcium and/or magnesium leaching material. The tube includes a flange adjacent its first end which minimizes the possibility that water will enter the bottle except by flowing through the open first end of the tube. A cap is provided for disposition over the tube, a lower portion of the cap sealing the open first end of the tube to prevent water from flowing through it, and apertured substantially 360 degrees around its circumference to allow free flow of water from the bottle which has already been treated by the treatment media when an upper portion of said cap is moved axially relative to the lower portion from a closed to an open position. A replaceable filter cartridge is also provided for attachment to the lower end of the tube, the cartridge containing any one or more of filter media, flavoring concentrates and/or minerals or vitamin supplements. An adaptor is also provided for converting a snap-on cap bottle neck to a screw-on cap bottle neck so that a screw-on type cap may be utilized with either type bottle neck.

摘要: A water conditioning or purifying apparatus for preparing drinking water from tap water, incorporating a water inlet at the bottom area and a water outlet at the cover area. The water conditioning or purifying apparatus is provided with activated carbon and anion exchange material for filtering contaminants, and the casing is divided into a lower and an upper casing portion, which both can be removed from each other. The interior of the casing incorporates a first, lower chamber containing the activated carbon and a second, upper chamber containing anion exchange material. Both chambers are sealed at the top and at the bottom by filter fleeces. The water to be purified flows uniformly through the entire cross section of the casing and with the same speed from bottom to top.

摘要: A composite cartridge-type filter effective to substantially reduce low but hazardous concentrations of lead in drinking water to acceptable levels utilizes a porous activated carbon block filter and a powdered deionizing resin which is converted to an ion exchange resin in situ and during use of the filter. The method of operation of the filter results in a substantially extended life for lead removal as compared to similar disposable cartridge filters. The composite filter is also affective in removing dissolved metals which are leached from the soluble ash fraction of the carbon block itself. Powdered deionizing resin, having a greatly enhanced active surface area as compared to the resin beads from which it is formed, is formed by fracturing the resin beads in situ in a slurry filling and drying process which provides a stable packed resin bed.

摘要: A filter basket and filtration media for an inverted bottle type water dispenser which is disposed below the inverted bottle, depending from the collar of the water reservoir into the water reservoir and receiving the neck of the bottle, so that all the water discharged from the bottle passes through the filter basket in a downward direction. The filter basket has an inverted conical upper section which funnels all the water which is drained from the bottle to a filtration compartment at its lower section. The filtration compartment remains submerged in water. The filtration compartment contains the filtration media and discharges the filtered water therefrom directly into the water reservoir. Air released in the spigot when it is opened rises upwardly through the filtration media to be received in the bottle. The filtration media comprises an aluminosilicate gel with pore sizes in the range of sixty to two hundred and fifty Angstroms which provides for rapid flow of water and air therethrough. Other filtration media may be used in combination, such as activated carbon. The filter basket and filtration media is composed entirely from microwave-safe material for sterilization in a conventional microwave oven.
