Abstract:
A method of treating spine pathologies and related outcomes in a subject in need thereof is provided. The method includes placement of at least two calibrated, differential disturbances or protuberances under the subject's feet.
Abstract:
A suspended footrest device for supporting and exercising a user's feet and legs. The footrest device includes a pair of footrests that are pivotally connected to the opposed ends of a rigid elongated member. A non-rigid suspension member is connected to a medial section of the elongated member to suspend the footrests. The footrests are pivotally connected to the rigid elongated member.
Abstract:
A rotational resistance system is described herein, the system being adapted for a user so as to facilitate exercise of muscles throughout upper and lower extremities of the user's body. The system may include a pair of separate rotational resistance devices in side-by-side relation for placement of a corresponding hand or foot of a user thereon. Each device may further include a support structure, a top surface of which being a rotatable plate, the plate connected to a means for providing resistance and release of resistance thereto. Use of various exercise protocols with the system activates selected under active muscles of the user and releases selected overactive muscles.
Abstract:
Footwear includes a support member having an upper surface attachable to a foot, and two bulbous protuberances, a forward bulbous protuberance and rearward bulbous protuberance. Each of the protuberances has a curved outer contour, and protrudes from a lower surface of the support member on opposite sides of a latitudinal midline thereof, the latitudinal midline being halfway between a calcaneus support portion and a phalanges support portion of the support member. The forward bulbous protuberance is positioned medially offset with respect to a longitudinal centerline.
Abstract:
An exercise device that includes a base member that includes an upper surface and a cushion seat portion extending downwardly therefrom and a handle cavity defined in and extending downwardly from the upper surface. The device also includes a cushion member attached to the cushion seat portion. The cushion seat portion has a generally convex shape. A handle portion secured to the base member and spanning the handle cavity, and at least a first binding member that is secured to the base member and is configured to secure a user's foot to the upper surface of the base member.
Abstract:
An exercise device can include: a platform; a handle coupled to a first side of the platform; and an inflatable member coupled to an opposite second side of the platform, the inflatable member having a rounded portion with an apex opposite of the handle, the inflatable member having an inflation port. The inflatable member can have an annular flange around an inflatable portion, the annular flange being mounted to the platform. The device can include an annular fastener ring mounted to the platform with the annular flange therebetween, the annular fastener ring being received onto a first surface of the annular flange, and a second surface of the annular flange being received onto the second side of the platform. The device can include fasteners passing through the annular flange and mounting the annular fastener ring to the platform.
Abstract:
An exercise device and methods for using the exercise device. The exercise device is a spherical structure having a rigid surface and an opening therein for the user's hand to grasp a handle affixed in the center of the spherical structure. A series of exercises may be performed with the exercise device, including push-ups, rows and swings.
Abstract:
An exercise apparatus having a plurality of upper and lower interchangeable surfaces. The apparatus includes a plurality of interchangeable upper surfaces sized and shaped to fit on an upper side of the fitness platform and a plurality of interchangeable lower surfaces sized and shaped to fit on a lower side of the fitness platform. A user selects one of the plurality of interchangeable upper surface and affixes the selected upper surface to the upper side of the fitness platform and selects one of the plurality of interchangeable lower surfaces and affixes the selected lower surface to the lower side of the fitness platform. The upper surfaces may include an incline surface, a flat upper surface, and a cushion surface. The lower surfaces may include a stable base, an unstable base, and a surface having a plurality of pivotable wheels. The user selects the upper and lower surfaces for the desired exercise.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an exercise device configured to engage multiple accessory attachments, the device comprising: a top plate; a bottom plate underneath and complementary to the top plate; and a first accessory disk releasably attached to the top plate, the first accessory disk having a member engaging a user for performing exercises, the accessory attachments capable of being configured in various combinations for allowing the user to perform different exercises targeting different muscle groups of the body, thereby to achieve a full body exercise.
Abstract:
A device for enabling a workout while providing balance training and methods for using the device. A specific embodiment of the device is in the form of a circular inflated body formed of polyvinylchloride plastic having a needle valve for inflating the body with air, a curved vertical surface, opposing generally horizontal surfaces, an ellipsoidal cross-section, and a diameter of between 12 inches and 18 inches. A flat circular depression centrally located on one of the horizontal surfaces has a diameter between 8 inches and 10 inches with a ratio of the diameter of the body of the device to the flat depression of from 1.2 to 2.25., the flat depression having a depth of 1 1/16 inches to 2 inches. Nubs are distributed over a horizontal surface opposite the flat depression. A method is provided for using the device to work out while providing balance training. A pair of the devices is used to support the arms or legs of a user while the user is performing an exercise. In one method, the devices support the flat surfaces of push-up handles to facilitate push-ups while providing balance training. In another method, the device supports the feet of a user to provide balance training while he or she uses weights.
