Equipment being used in proximity to the personnel may interfere with the safety lines presenting a potential hazard. A fall protection monitor provides an automated and wireless sensor system for avoiding interactions between equipment and safety lines. The fall-protection monitor includes a first sensor for monitoring whether a safety line is in operation. A second sensor monitors a location of a moveable device being used in the vicinity of the safety line. A controller determines the location of the moveable device and whether the safety line is in operation. The controller prevents movement of the moveable device within a predetermined distance from an operational safety line.

Abstract: A clamping device includes a roller rotating around an axis. A member is fixed to the roller. The member is designed to contact a clamp. The member is mounted movable with respect to the axis to contact the clamp or not. Rotation of the roller generates a centrifugal force designed to move the member towards the clamp. When the speed of rotation of the roller reaches a threshold value, the member contacts the clamp to block the roller. The roller is provided with a stop mounted fixedly to the roller and has a fourth contact area. In the second member position, a third contact area of the member is pressing on the fourth contact area. The third contact area is arranged opposite the second contact area.

Abstract: In a reel 24 of a lanyard, a cam 46 is rotatable to change an orientation among a free orientation, a locking orientation, and a waiting orientation.
