摘要: A wheelchair system and an accessory system for a wheelchair are disclosed. According to one embodiment, the accessory system may include an accessory frame having one or more interface elements to mount to a wheelchair frame. The accessory system may include a wheel assembly rotatably coupled to the accessory frame by a first fastener. The accessory system may include an engagement system further coupling the accessory frame to the wheel assembly. The engagement system may include a channel guide member defining a channel having a notched region. The channel guide member may be rotatably coupled to one of the accessory frame or wheel assembly by a second fastener. The engagement system may further include a translating member retained within the channel of the channel guide member. The translating member may be fixed to another one of the accessory frame or wheel assembly.

摘要: A tracked mobility device includes: a) a pair of independent, self-supported track drives defining a planar ground contact area; b) a multi-directional wheel having a raised position above the plane of the ground contact area, and a lowered position below the plane of the ground contact area; and c) an actuator for moving the multi-directional wheel to either its raised or its lowered position. When the actuator lowers the multi-directional wheel, part of the planar ground contact area is raised from the ground without raising all of the planar ground contact area from the ground. Each track drive functions independently so that bumps along one track may be traversed without tilting the entire vehicle. Each track drive may be attached to the vehicle body with flexible mounts that allow each track drive to independently tilt upward or downward as the device moves on its tracks.

摘要: A manually propelled vehicle (1) comprises a frame (11) and a plurality of wheels (17, 23) secured to the frame (11) for conveying the vehicle (1) in one mode of operation. The vehicle (1) further comprises at least one continuous track assembly (3) mounted on the frame (11) and defining an upper tread (63a) and a lower tread (63b). The distance between the upper tread (63a) and lower tread (63b) can be changed from a retracted condition to an extended condition. In the extended condition, the lower tread (63b) forms the ground engaging surface of the vehicle (1) for conveying the vehicle (1) in a second mode of operation thereof. The vehicle (1) further comprises a seat (5) pivotally mounted to the frame (11) and means to tilt the seat (15) rear-wardly when ascending or descending an incline.

摘要: The present invention provides an assistant apparatus for surmounting a barrier, which comprises a carrier body, an assistant mechanism, and a sensing/driving apparatus. The assistant mechanism, disposed at a side of the carrier body, having an assistant block disposed at the end thereof, functions to place the assistant block on the ground between the carrier body and the barrier so that the carrier body is capable of surmounting the barrier through the assistance of the assistant block. The sensing/driving apparatus, coupled to the assistant mechanism, functions to drive the assistant mechanism to generate the adjusting movement according to whether the barrier is detected or not. By means of the design of the present invention, the assistant block is adopted to reduce the height surmounted by the carrier each time so that the carrier is capable of surmounting the barrier section by section.

摘要: A transportation vehicle and methods for transporting persons, robots or cargo, and more particularly motorized vehicles, and methods for transporting over surfaces, including surfaces such as floors, roads, paths and sidewalks, and surfaces having obstacles or inclined surfaces and for enabling the ascending or descending of stairs without tilting while supporting a user or a load on a frame. The vehicle uses horizontal extending and retracting rods and vertical extending and retracting rods to pass over an obstacle or ascend or descend stairs. The horizontal extending and retracting rods are used as mechanisms to move the first set of ground contacting modules located to the fore of the vehicle or the last set of ground contacting modules located to the aft of the vehicle in a fore-aft plane to pass over an obstacle or to position the first set or last set of ground contacting modules upon a stair to be used for ascending and descending stairs. The vertical extending and retracting rods are used to raise or lower the frame, to raise or lower individual ground contracting members and to keep the vehicle stable.
