Abstract:
Automatic darkening filters are often provided on a protective headgear, where protection from high intensity light is desired. An automatic darkening filter includes a switchable shutter, a shutter control system, a light sensor, and an imaging acquisition device. The switchable shutter is capable of assuming at least a dark state, a light state and an intermediate state.
Abstract:
A tool communication adapter system is provided. One exemplary system described herein includes a tool communication adapter having an adapter body including first and second mechanical attachment ends, a first electrical connector proximate the first mechanical attachment end and a second electrical connector proximate the second mechanical attachment end, a first supply channel having an opening extending through the body between the first and second mechanical attachment ends, and including a first supply channel connector at the first attachment end and a second supply channel connector at the second mechanical attachment end, and a control unit in communication with the first and second electrical connectors. The control unit is configured to provide a filter command signal to a protective filter in response to a signal received at the first electrical connector. An exemplary tool communication adapter thus allows communication between a tool and personal protective equipment.

Abstract:
A welder's protective helmet is provided with a detachable face mask with a handle which allows the welder to detach the same, as desired, and hold the face mask in front of his/her eyes during welding but to easily and quickly move the same to the side for direct viewing. The handle can be provided with a forwardly directed V-shaped trough for holding the extension of the welding torch so that welding proceeds while the user's eyes are protected since the user's hand is holding both the welding torch in the trough of the handle which is also holding the face mask.
Abstract:
An eyewear system including an eyewear frame and an application module. The eyewear frame including a docking station, and an electronic connector including a first set of preconfigured application connection points. The application module adapted to be mounted to the docking station, and including an electronic device configured to perform a function, and a second set of preconfigured application connection points corresponding to at least some of the first set of preconfigured application connection points. The second set of preconfigured application connection points including at least two different sub-function connections used to support the function of the electronic device.

Abstract:
An intraocular system is presented that may include an electro-active element having multiple independently controllable zones or pixels, and a controller capable of being remotely programmed. The system or element may be flexible, such that it can be folded for insertion into the eye. The system may include various energy storage and charging mechanisms to provide power to the lens and/or the controller.
Abstract:
A face plate has a major chamber positionable in front of a face of a welder. A visor housing has a forward opening. A minor chamber is provided within the visor housing. A forward assembly is fixedly positioned within the minor chamber adjacent to the forward opening. The forward assembly has a glass ultraviolet filter centrally. The forward assembly has a heat resistant transparent plate outwardly. The forward assembly has a fixed polarized filter lens inwardly. A rearward assembly is fixedly positioned within the major chamber adjacent to the visor housing. The rearward assembly includes a rotatable polarized filter lens. A drive assembly is adapted to rotate the rotatable polarized filter lens with respect to the fixed polarized filter lens.
