摘要:
A technical orthopedic device for supporting an extremity of a wearer. The technical orthopedic device includes at least one support element, on which the extremity rests when the technical orthopedic device is applied. The support element features a support structure and a contact element. The contact element includes or is made of a flat, flexible, preferably elastic material. The contact element is fixed to the support structure in such a way that a gap is created between the contact element and the support structure.

A therapeutic orthopedic device is described. The orthopedic device serves to restrain and limit movement of a human arm and shoulder. The device comprises a torso pillow, a padded forearm support attached to the pillow and a shoulder strap that traverses the clavicle region of the opposite shoulder. The pillow is positioned to rest against the torso of a user and the strap is positioned over the opposite shoulder. The forearm support acts as a shelf upon which the user's forearm may rest in a natural position. Flexible straps extend from the forearm support, over the user's forearm, and engage with the pillow to secure the forearm.

Dynamic arm brace assemblies and methods of use are provided herein. An example device includes a torso connection member securable to a torso of a patient, a forearm support member that couples with at least a forearm of an patient, the forearm support member couples with the torso connection member so as to fix an elbow of the patient proximate the torso, the forearm support member being pivotally coupled to the torso connection member to allow for an angle between the forearm support member and a coronal plane of the patient, and a dynamic tensioning assembly that externally rotates the forearm support member and selectively sets the angle so as to stretch a shoulder capsule (capsule and adjacent tissue(s)) affected with adhesive capsulitis, reducing the adhesive capsulitis.

Methods of manufacturing an orthopedic shoulder device is provided. The method includes providing a cradle device configured to receive and support a portion of an arm of a user. The method includes assembling an abduction positioning device by coupling the cradle device to an apex of a flexible arch utilizing a rotation coupling member such that adjusting an amount of curvature of the flexible arch adjusts an angle of abduction of the arm of the user relative to a torso of the user. The method includes providing at least one strap for coupling between at least two locations on the flexible arch such that the amount of curvature of the flexible arch is adjusted by adjusting an amount of the at least one strap coupled between the at least two locations on the flexible arch. Methods of utilizing such an orthopedic shoulder device are also provided.

A shoulder brace is provided which is fitted to a patient having an externally injured shoulder in the initial stage of treatment and which enables the patient to make motions in directions suitable for early rehabilitation exercises for the injured shoulder. The shoulder brace is fitted to the patient having the externally injured shoulder in a physiological reference position where the elbow joint of the patient is flexed by an angle of 90° in the frontward direction and the shoulder is internally rotated by an angle of 30°. The shoulder brace includes a first layer and a second layer. The first layer includes at least: shoulder attachment portions 11a and 11b attached to both shoulders respectively, each having a predetermined width and being arranged in the frontward and backward directions; and a back-side linking portion 13 linking back-end parts of the right and left shoulder attachment portions 11a and 11b. The second layer includes a ringed sling 21 having a predetermined width. The sling 21: runs below from the front end of a shoulder portion 21a, the shoulder portion 21a being placed in the frontward and backward directions on the shoulder attachment portion 11a of the first layer, up to the ulnar side of the forearm adjacent to the elbow; runs from the ulnar side of the forearm across the lower-surface side of the forearm up to the radial side of the forearm; runs from the radial side of the forearm across the front of the upper arm; and runs through the armpit up to the back end of the shoulder portion 21a. The patient fitted with the shoulder brace is able to take a simple-pendulum exercise in the frontward and backward directions while retaining the forearm at the shoulder internal-rotation angle of the physiological reference position.

An arm sling includes a flat, elongated strap having a first end and a second end; a ring structure attached to the first end; and a double loop structure having a first loop and a second loop. The second end can extend through the first loop structure, then through the second loop structure, then back through the second loop structure, then through the first loop structure to define an arm loop and a remaining portion of the strap between the double loop structure and the second end. The second end can extend through the ring structure and attach to the remaining portion via an attachment element to define a shoulder loop.

A contouring arm and shoulder support is provided that is secured to a supporting and stabilizing belt. The support system includes a belt support and an arm support that are operably interconnected and yet easily disassociated. The arm support provides dynamic support that allows the patient to move their injured arm if needed.

A sleeve-like support member can be used to enhance the comfort and wearability of a convention sling. A conventional sling includes a pouch adapted for receiving a user's arm to be immobilized. The sleeve-like support member is shaped to fit around a user's shoulder, and further is adapted to attach to the sling pouch by one or more straps secured to and extending away from the pouch. An axillary strap can be secured to a bottom portion of the sleeve-like support member to secure the sleeve-like support member around a user's upper arm. By securing to a user's shoulder, the sleeve-like support member removes pressure ordinarily applied by conventional slings to a user's neck, and provides an anchor point opposite the arm or shoulder to be immobilized.

To provide a shoulder brace for non-surgical treatment which is capable of immobilizing an upper arm of a patient in an extremity position where the upper arm hangs down along the trunk in treatment for acromioclavicular joint dislocation or distal clavicle fracture, for the purpose of promoting the activities of daily living of the patient and relieving the uneasiness/discomfort of the patient who has the shoulder brace for non-surgical treatment on.The shoulder brace for non-surgical treatment includes a strap utilized for reduction, the strap forming a loop made in series by: a section which runs down vertically from the front of the acromioclavicular joint toward the ulnar side of the forearm; a section which runs across a forearm trough; a section which runs up from the radial side of the forearm windingly across the front of the upper arm to the back of the shoulder; and a section which runs across from the back to the front over the shoulder pad and reaches to the acromioclavicular joint part. The shoulder brace for non-surgical treatment is fitted to a patient in the extremity position where the upper arm hangs down, and the strap runs crossly or twistingly to stably retain the reduction.

A limb support coupler including a flexible body having opposing flexible body first and second faces, the flexible body conformingly embeddable within a limb support; and a connector outwardly extending from the flexible body first face. Further, a limb support coupler whereby the flexible body conformingly embeds within the limb support to dispose the flexible body first and seconds faces in adjacent generally parallel relation to respective limb support external and internal surfaces.
