    摘要: A cardiac treatment system of the subject technology provides access across an interatrial septum of a patient. Such a treatment system can include a catheter having an ablation treatment device on an outer surface of a distal region thereof. A needle is provided at least partially within a lumen of the catheter. A control unit is operatively connected to the ablation treatment device for ablation of a portion of a septum by RF ablation. A distal end of a catheter is provided to the septum (e.g., at the fossa ovalis) of the patient while a distal tip of the needle is within the lumen and proximal to the distal end of the catheter. The distal tip of the needle punctures and crosses the septum, and a portion of the septum is ablated with an ablation treatment device aligned with the septum by guidance from the needle.

    摘要: A transseptal punch with a steering mechanism within the punch, such that punch can be steered and deflected within a guide catheter during delivery, to avoid skiving of the guide catheter inner wall by passage of the punch tip through the guide catheter. The punch can be advanced through a body lumen in its straight configuration and then be selectively articulated or curved to permit negotiation of tortuous curvature or to permit optimal approach or access to a puncture site. The punch is able to create holes in the atrial septum of the heart or other structures and is easier to use than punches that are pre-curved near their distal tip since it is easier to advance through accessory catheters.

    摘要: An apparatus for targeting a desired target site on a body tissue comprising a wall of a first body cavity of a patient includes a target catheter. The framing member, when deployed into an expanded condition, has a framing member body which includes a three-dimensionally bulbous portion defining a maximum body footprint in a lateral dimension and has longitudinally spaced proximal and distal body ends which are both longitudinally spaced from the maximum body footprint. The proximal body end is attached to the target catheter. A protrusion has a diameter which is smaller than the maximum body footprint diameter. At least one target point is carried by the framing member and is adapted for placement adjacent the desired target site. At least one target pathway is attached to at least one target point. At least a portion of the target pathway is substantially spaced apart from the framing member body.
