Abstract:
A beverage filtering press, preferably for pressing coffee beverages, includes a hollow cylinder, a removable filter cap, a removable piston that is inserted in the cylinder and pressed downward to force beverage through the filter cap, and a support to hold the press above the mouth of an open vessel. Oversized filtering presses for dispensing multiple serving of beverage are provided. Beverage presses are provided that include a hollow cylinder and piston both formed of plastic, including a clear plastic. Alternatively, beverage presses are provided that include a cylinder formed of glass and a piston formed of metal, such as stainless steel or aluminum. The support and filter cap can also be formed of plastic or a metal, such as stainless steel or aluminum. A carafe specially shaped to correspond to the support can be used. Organizer holder stands that accommodate various beverage presses are also provided.
Abstract:
A beverage brewer having a cartridge for placement of a disposable single use filter basket filled with beverage grounds. The filter basket includes a plastic frame having a bottom, a plurality of ribs, and a top rim that define a plurality of openings covered by a non-woven or woven plastic filter material. The basket filled with beverage grounds is enclosed with a film cover. The inlet probe of the brewer pierces the cover and admits a heated liquid into the beverage grounds, and creates a brewed beverage that flows through the filter material and exits an opening in a bottom portion of the cartridge.
Abstract:
A system for singly dispensing fibrous filters from bulk includes a grasping tool having a handle with a working end and a container with an opening. The opening has an edge, and at least a portion of the edge or an edge trim member is shaped so that bulk fibrous filters cannot pass freely through the opening in the container when they are inside and so that at least a portion of a top filter is accessible and graspable by the working end of the grasping tool. The edge trim member has a downwardly extending wall and tab members extending inward from the wall. The edge of the opening of the container has cutouts for receiving the tab members. The tab members can pass freely through the cutouts so that the edge trim member and the tab members can rotate freely relative to the container to define a locked position with the tab members underneath the edge of the opening so that the trim member can be releasably secured to the container. The edge trim member has a planer platform for rotating the trim member relative to the container and so that a user can move the container and the trim member together as a single unit. The planer platform has a cutout extending therethrough. The handle of the grasping tool includes a planer body with a front end with a pick extending outwardly therefrom and a tongue extending obliquely from the body. The cutout of the planer platform receives the tongue to releasably secure the grasping tool to the platform.
Abstract:
A filter paper for a brewing apparatus such as coffee machines, the filter paper comprising a base and a side wall extending upwardly therefrom, the side wall having a top edge, the major portion of the top edge having a scalloped uniform configuration, the minor portion having a height different from the major portion of the top edge. In a preferred embodiment, a pleated arrangement is used wherein the pleats will provide an area which can easily be grasped by the user to separate one filter from another.
Abstract:
A disposable strainer (1) for tea infusion comprises a base (10) and a deformable infusion container (11) with a moisture-permeable body (110) attached to the base (10). The base (10) is foldable, the disposable strainer (1) includes a squeezing mechanism (12) connected to the body (110) of the infusion container (11) and adapted to squeeze the infusion container (11) once the base (10) is folded, and the squeezing mechanism (12) consists in a first thread (121) adapted for drawing out of the disposable strainer (1).
Abstract:
A coffee brewer (10, 10′ and 10′) is provided with a plurality of solenoid controlled, bi-position dispense valves (40, 40′), a size adjustable valve (60) or a combination of both and a programmable controller (18) for controlling the dispense valves in accordance with preselected brew parameters of batch quantity and dispense time duration.
Abstract:
A method of loading stacked strainers in a dispenser while minimizing strainer contamination is disclosed. The method includes providing a stack of strainers that is enclosed in a protective material to form a pod, placing the pod within a dispenser, and removing the protective material from the pod of strainers while the strainers are in the dispenser. The strainers dispensed from the thus loaded dispenser avoid being contamination during loading. The protective material may be perforated to facilitate removal from the stack, and include an extended portion to be grasped during removal from the dispenser.
Abstract:
A filter bag and method of brewing coffee, tea or the like in a French press. The bag is made of a material penetrable by water, but not by solid particles. The method comprises the steps of: Removing the plunger from the French press, placing the bag into the French press with the opening facing up, placing ground coffee beans, tea leaves or the like in the filter bag and pouring hot liquid into the bag. Then, the plunger is mounted on the French press as in ordinary use, just as the beverage steeps as it normally does. Then, the plunger is pushed down, emptying the filter bag of liquid and leaving the filter bag at the bottom of the French press. By means of the method it is achieved that smaller particles can be filtered out than is possible with the prior art French press, meaning that there are fewer grounds in the beverage. Also, the coffee grounds or tea leaves are contained in a way that allows for their quick and easy disposal, which makes it easier to clean the French press after use.
Abstract:
A method and a device for producing filter inserts (1), in particular filter inserts (1) for preparing a coffee or tea filtrate, including the continuous folding (A) of a filter paper sheet (2) into a double layer (3), partially binding (B) the double layer (3) to a plurality of interconnected filter inserts (1) using at least one stamped seam (4) and separating (D) the interconnected filter inserts (1) from the filter paper sheet (2). The filter inserts (1) are provided with a label (5) after folding (A).
