    摘要: The invention relates to a fringe capacitance sensor (10) for sensing objects, particularly, but not exclusively, pests, a sensor unit (100) comprising one or more fringe capacitance sensors, a system comprising a plurality of sensor units in a mesh topology or other wireless network and a method for intelligently detecting object activity, such as the presence of a pest, for example, a rodent or crawling, burrowing or flying insect. It can also be applied to the management of animals, whether in the wild or on farms. A preferred sensor (10) for detecting changes (A) in fringe capacitance (A) comprises an electrically conductive sensor conductor (12) and two electrically conductive un-grounded conductors (14a; 14b) disposed one on either side (16a; 16b) of the sensor conductor (12) to form a triplet (14a-12-14b). The conductors (12, 14a, 14b) are supported on an un-grounded conductive substrate (18) which is electrically isolated (20) from said conductors (12, 14a, 14b) and each conductor (14a,12;14b) is of a width (w), and thickness (t), and is spaced by a distance (d) from another such that the sensor is tuned to detect or identify a given animal.

    摘要: A trap for retaining a live animal includes a housing, a spring-biased loop retainer movable into and out of the housing and a latch having an arcuate section. A trigger is disposed to engage an aperture in the latch wherein the trigger is positioned to extend into and out of the housing such that the arcuate section of the latch engages the spring-biased loop retainer to move the loop retainer into the housing. A method of setting a trap for catching a live animal comprises moving a restraining segment of an animal leg retainer into a housing by engaging an arcuate section of a latch against the retainer. The arcuate section is engaged by applying a downward force to the latch to cause the restraining segment to be positioned in a set position for engaging the animal leg.

    摘要: A remote notification electronic rodent trapping system and method is provided having a plurality of rearming electronic rodent trapping devices configured to wirelessly communicate trap information to a base station that is in communication with a cloud server. When a trap is activated by a rodent trigger it changes from a set state to a kill alert state and initiates a killing cycle. The trap waits a first time period and then sends a notification signal to the base station of trap activation which the base station forwards to the cloud server. The cloud server waits a second predetermined time period before sending a pushed notification to a remote user of the trap's kill alert state. If the trap rearms prior to expiration of the second time period, it alerts the base station which notifies the cloud server. The cloud server updates trap status to the set state and does not send a notification to the user.
