    摘要: Methods are provided for strengthening (e.g., repairing, structurally reinforcing, etc.) a fluid-system component by installing, as a circumferential wrap or a patch, a radiation-curable composite laminate. Kits including composite repair materials and equipment for implementing the methods are also provided. Examples of fluid-system components that may be strengthened include pipework, pipelines, transmission pipelines, distribution pipelines, gathering lines, oil risers, gas risers, process piping, girth welds on pipelines or vessels, tanks, vessels, elbows, tees, flanges, and high-pressure injection lines. An approach where, prior to curing, the precursor to the composite laminate comprises a glass fabric, a carbon fabric, or any combination(s) thereof, pre-impregnated with an uncured epoxy resin, an uncured epoxy acrylate resin, or a mixture thereof, is used; curing is performed via electron beam irradiation; and the installation and curing procedures can be automated to the maximum extent possible, in exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure.

    摘要: Systems, method and devices for applying a fluid composite to a carrier sheet are presented herein. An aspect of this disclosure is directed to a fluid-administering apparatus for applying a fluid composite, such as resins, epoxies, and adhesives, to a carrier sheet, such as a cloth tape. The apparatus includes a support frame with a container buttress, and a container removably received within the container buttress of the support frame. The container has a basin for holding the fluid composite, a lid covering the basin, and first and second scraping surfaces for scraping the carrier sheet. The container also has first and second slots, each of which is defined through a respective opposing side of the container. The carrier sheet passes through the first slot, traverses down into the basin through the fluid composite, slides over the first scraping surface then under the second scraping surface, and passes out through the second slot.

    摘要: Systems, method and devices for applying a fluid composite to a carrier sheet are presented herein. An aspect of this disclosure is directed to a fluid-administering apparatus for applying a fluid composite, such as resins, epoxies, and adhesives, to a carrier sheet, such as a cloth tape.     摘要: A protective seal, a protective seal kit, and a method for sealing a joint region between pipes are provided. The protective seal includes a first wrap, comprising a corrosion-resistant material, wrapped around a seal region, contacting the outer surface of the pipeline assembly. A second wrap, comprising a self-adhering fiberglass composite, wraps around the first wrap. The kit includes a flexible wrap fabricated, in part, from a corrosion-resistant material, and a second flexible wrap fabricated, in part, from a fiberglass cloth impregnated with a resinous pliable-plastic material. The method includes wrapping a corrosion-resistant, inner wrap around first and second pipes such that this wrap surrounds the joint region and adheres to the pipes. A fiberglass-composite outer wrap is wrapped around the inner wrap and the first and second pipes such that the outer wrap surrounds the inner wrap and adheres to the pipes. The outer wrap is cured.

    摘要: A construction material adapted for a wide variety of uses is shown, as, for example, in repairing cracks, holes and dents in the hulls and bodies of boats and land vehicles, leaks in gas and liquid conduits such as exhaust pipes and water pipes, and leaks in gas and liquid tanks and other containers; repairing fractured poles, booms, spars, antennas, and the like, and strengthening similar structures that are not fractured; patching roofs, gutters, and drainpipes; sealing leaking containers of pressurized fluids, such as air-conditioning systems, swimming pools, and hydraulic hoses; and electrically insulating all manner of articles. The product comprises a flexible web impregnated with a pliable mastic in a sealed package which maintains its contents in stable soft and pliable condition until opened, after which the web is applied to the use intended and the mastic begins to harden in place upon exposure to water, or to only the moisture in the air. The mastic is able to harden and cure under water, salt or fresh.

The protective seal includes a first wrap, comprising a corrosion-resistant material, wrapped around a seal region, contacting the outer surface of the pipeline assembly. A second wrap, comprising a self-adhering fiberglass composite, wraps around the first wrap. The kit includes a flexible wrap fabricated, in part, from a corrosion-resistant material, and a second flexible wrap fabricated, in part, from a fiberglass cloth impregnated with a resinous pliable-plastic material. The method includes wrapping a corrosion-resistant, inner wrap around first and second pipes such that this wrap surrounds the joint region and adheres to the pipes. A fiberglass-composite outer wrap is wrapped around the inner wrap and the first and second pipes such that the outer wrap surrounds the inner wrap and adheres to the pipes. The outer wrap is cured.

The carrier is impregnated with a resinous composite that expands and solidifies upon exposure to a catalyst. One or more anchors are formed from the resinous composite after being exposed to the catalyst. The anchors retain the carrier inside the hole.

The end seal may include a frustoconical seal member configured to seal the space at one end of the outer casing. A composite wrap covers the seal member. The kit includes a deformable sealing putty and a flexible wrap. The method includes: applying a deformable sealing putty to the outer casing and inner pipe; forming the sealing putty into a fluid tight seal, the seal having a hollow body with an annular segment disposed within the outer casing, and a frustoconical segment extending coaxially from the annular segment outside of the outer casing; wrapping a flexible fiberglass composite wrap around the frustoconical segment of the seal; and curing the fiberglass composite wrap.
