Abstract: A skin closure system includes a surgical mesh, a topical skin adhesive, and a strip that may be secured relative to the surgical mesh. The surgical mesh includes an upper side and a lower side, with the lower side capable of adhering to a section of the patient skin that surrounds a wound. The topical skin adhesive can be applied to the upper side of the surgical mesh and cure within the surgical mesh to form a protective layer over the wound. The strip has an elongated body impregnated with an active pharmaceutical ingredient. The strip extends longitudinally along a central portion of the lower side of the elongated mesh and can diffuse the active pharmaceutical integrated toward the wound after the protective layer is formed over the wound.

Abstract: A surgical instrument includes an ultrasonic transducer, a shaft defining a longitudinal axis, and an end effector at a distal end of the shaft. The end effector includes an ultrasonic blade driven by the ultrasonic transducer to treat tissue with ultrasonic energy. A tissue treatment portion of the ultrasonic blade includes a linear blade region extending parallel to the longitudinal axis, a curved blade region extending distally from the linear blade region along a curved path that deflects laterally from the longitudinal axis, an upper treatment side, a lower treatment side, a first lateral side having a first sweeping side surface, and a second lateral side having a second sweeping side surface. The sweeping side surfaces define respective first and second side edges of a transverse cross-section of the tissue treatment portion, and are configured such that the first and second side edges are parallel to one another.

Abstract: A method of delivering power to a load coupled to an energy module includes determining a power to be produced in a load, generating a signal, and selecting a first or second power amplifier circuit based on the power to be produced in the load. The power rating of the amplifier circuits is different. Another method includes generating a digital waveform having a predetermined wave shape and frequency, converting the digital waveform to an analog waveform, selecting a first power amplifier circuit or a second power amplifier circuit based on a predetermined power output to be produced by the first or second power amplifier circuit into a load coupled to an energy output port of the energy module, coupling the analog waveform to the selected first or second power amplifier circuit, and producing the predetermined power output into the load.

Abstract: Pulsed hyperspectral, fluorescence, and laser mapping imaging without input clock or data transmission clock is disclosed. The system is such that at least a portion of the pulses of electromagnetic radiation emitted by the emitter comprises one or more of: electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength from about 513 nm to about 545 nm, from about 565 nm to about 585 nm, from about 900 nm to about 1000 nm, an excitation wavelength of electromagnetic radiation that causes a reagent to fluoresce, or a laser mapping pattern.

The method includes receiving, by a computer system, perioperative data from the surgical device, the perioperative data associated with a surgical procedure; receiving, by the computer system, images from a scope, the images visualizing the surgical device during the surgical procedure; determining, by the computer system, an attribute of the surgical device from the images; determining, by the computer system, procedural context data based at least on the perioperative data and the attribute of the surgical device; and controlling, by the computer system, the surgical device according to the procedural context data.

Abstract: A method of suturing a trocar path incision in a tissue of a patient with an obturator includes inserting the obturator through the tissue such that a shaft of the obturator extends through a tissue opening about the trocar path incision and a distal tip of the obturator is positioned within a cavity of the patient. The method also includes directing the suture via a suturing feature with the obturator inserted through the tissue in order to direct the suture relative to the tissue. Furthermore, the method includes closing the tissue opening about the trocar path incision with the suture.

Abstract: A method of replacing blades of an end effector of a surgical tool includes moving the end effector distally from an assembled state, where the end effector is rotatably mounted to a clevis, to an extended state, where an axle is dislodged from open-ended slots defined in opposing arms of the clevis. The end effector includes opposing first and second blades mounted to first and second blade holders rotatably mounted to the axle. The blade holders are separable from the blades in opposing lateral directions, and a new blade set comprising new blades and a new axle are then mountable to the holders, and the end effector is moved proximally and back to the assembled state by receiving the new axle within the open-ended slots.

Abstract: An end effector includes a substantially U-shaped stationary jaw located distally and a movable jaw movable relative to the stationary jaw to clamp tissue therebetween.
