摘要: A honeycomb structure comprising porous partition walls which form, by surrounding, a plurality of cells extending between the two ends faces of the honeycomb structure, and an outer wall formed integrally with the partition walls. The cells consist of partial cells of outermost peripheral portion, having incomplete cell sections, which are located at the outermost peripheral portion of the honeycomb structure and are in partial contact with the outer wall, and complete cells having a complete cell section, other than the partial cells of outermost peripheral portion. In the complete cells, a plugged part is formed at one end of each complete cell so that each end face of the honeycomb structure shows a checkerwise plugging pattern. In the partial cells of outermost peripheral portion to be plugged according to the above-mentioned plugging pattern, part of them is plugged in the entire length and formed integrally with the outer wall and remaining cells have each a plugged part only at one end.

摘要: There is provided a honeycomb structure capable of inhibiting damages such as chipping in an end portion from being caused upon a treatment of exhaust gas or the like while being fixed in a metal container. The honeycomb structure 100 includes: a honeycomb structured portion 1 having porous partition walls separating and forming a plurality of cells functioning as fluid passages and extending in an axial direction, and an outer peripheral coat portion 2 disposed on the outer periphery 1b of the honeycomb structured portion 1. An end face 2a of the outer peripheral coat portion 2 is located on the inside, in the axial direction, of an end face 1a of the honeycomb structured portion 1 in at least one end portion 3 in the axial direction.

摘要: There is provided a honeycomb structure including: porous partition walls separating and forming a plurality of cells extending between two end faces, and an outer peripheral wall formed unitarily with the partition walls. The cells include outermost peripheral portion partial cells each locating in an outermost peripheral portion of the honeycomb structure and having an incomplete cell cross section, a part of which is brought into contact with the outer peripheral wall, and complete cells each having a complete cell cross section other than the outermost peripheral portion partial cells. The complete cells and the outermost peripheral portion partial cells having plugging portions formed on one end portion so that an entire end face of the honeycomb structure shows a checkerwise plugging pattern, and the depth of the plugging portions in the outermost peripheral partial cells is smaller than that of the plugging portions in the complete cells.

摘要: There is disclosed a plugged honeycomb structure manufacturing method capable of easily manufacturing a plugged honeycomb structure for use in a filter or the like at low costs so that deposits disposed on an end surface of the structure are reduced, a uniform plugging depth is achieved and especially the plugging depth of a slurry-like plugging material at an outer peripheral portion of the honeycomb structure is easily made uniform. In the method of manufacturing the plugged honeycomb structure in which the plugging portion is formed in one opening end portion of each of predetermined cells of a cylindrical honeycomb structure including a plurality of cells divided by porous partition walls to form channels of a fluid in the form of a honeycomb, a flexible porous member 2 impregnated beforehand with a slurry-like plugging material 1 is pressed onto an end surface 4a of a honeycomb structure 4 to thereby fill cell passages of the honeycomb structure 4 with the slurry-like plugging material 1 contained in the flexible porous member 2 and form plugging portions 4b.

In the honeycomb structure 1 of the present invention, the outer peripheral coat layer 3 is effectively inhibited from being damaged and peeled.

摘要: The manufacturing method of the plugged honeycomb structure for DPF wherein a plugging depth thereof can easily be made uniformly and briefly at low costs. In the method for manufacturing a plugged honeycomb structure having a plugging portion formed in one opening end portion of each of predetermined cells of a cylindrical honeycomb structure including a plurality of cells partitioned and formed into a honeycomb shape by porous partition walls to form fluid passages, holes 3 of a perforated elastic porous member 2 are impregnated beforehand with a slurried plugging material 5, and the elastic porous member 2 is pressed on an end surface of the honeycomb structure 6 to thereby fill the slurried plugging material 5 filled into the holes of the elastic porous member 2 into cell 7 passages of the honeycomb structure 6 to form the plugging portions 7a.
