    摘要: A cassette for use in a centrifugal counter-current distribution chromatographic apparatus which comprises a motor-driven rotor supported for rotation about a shaft having at least one pocket defined therein, and at least one cassette having a tortuous separation passage defined therein with the opposite ends adapted to be connected respectively to a source of fluid samples and the outside, the fluid samles being continuously supplied to the separation passage while the rotor is driven in one direction at high speed to effect the counter-current distribution. The cassette comprises at least one flat plate member having defined therein a plurality of slots and a corresponding number of narrow grooves alternating with the slots, each of the narrow grooves being continued at one end to one slot and at the other end to the next adjacent slot, sealing plates disposed on respective side faces of the flat plate member, and metallic side plates clamped together with the flat plate member and the sealing plates disposed therebetween. The slots and narrow grooves are so defined in the flat plate member that, when the cassette is mounted on the rotor, they can be oriented radially of the rotor.

    摘要: An apparatus for counting numbers of microscopic corpuscles such as blood cells, comprising an optical system, a driving mechanism, a photoelectrical convertor means and a counter means. The optical means is adapted to illuminate a sample containing the corpuscles so as to irradiate magnified images onto a charge coupled device (CCD) as the convertor means having elements lined up in a row in an X-direction perpendicular to a Y-direction in which the sample is moved by the driving mechanism whereby X-directional scanning is automatically executed by the CCD without moving the sample while Y-directional scanning is conducted with a sample holder continuously moved by said mechanism comprising a drive motor and a cooperating spring. The CCD is adapted to detect the number of corpuscle images contained in each scanning line in the X-direction and thereby to produce electric signals fed to the counter means, which comprises electronic circuits for summing up these signals in respect of Y-direction.

The slots and narrow grooves are so defined in the flat plate member that, when the cassette is mounted on the rotor, they can be oriented radially of the rotor.

    摘要: A method of and an appliance for use in testing the osmotic fragility of blood cells by the use of the CPC method involving a coil column containing an aqueous solution of a salt mixed with one or both of a viscosity modifier and a hemolysis promotor. This coil column, after the blood to be tested has been injected, is centrifuged while undergoing a planetary motion to cause the blood cells to undergo hemolysis. After this hemolysis, a hematological pattern is developed in the coil column, the position of the coil column at which such hematological pattern has been developed being indicative of the osmotic fragility of the subject blood.
