Abstract:
This invention relates to a cable whose inner opening space has been sealed with a polyurethane resin formed with a polyurethane resin-forming sealing material comprising components (A) and (B). (A): a component comprising a dispersion (1) of a water-insoluble water absorbent resin (D) or its hydrogel in a polyol (C), wherein said resin (D) is formed by polymerizing in the polyol (C) a water soluble monomer or its precursor and crosslinking agent and/or polysaccharide; and (B): a component comprising an organic polyisocyanate (2); and sealing process of the same. This invention provides a cables having an excellent water preventing property without the risk of falling-off of the sealing material at the time of cable connection.
Abstract:
A material for treating excretions of pet animals which is obtainable by combining pulp (A), inorganic substance (B), guar gum (C) and optionally water-absorbent resin (D) to form guranules. The weight ratios of (A) to (B) to (C) to (D) is 15-55:15-55:5-40: 5-45.The treating material is capable of absorbing liquids from excretions quickly, forming into clumps when absorbing liquid and maintaining the shape of the clump even when handled for removal.
Abstract:
A diffusing device containing a fragrance or deodorant material includes a gel of a water swellable/water absorbing resin carrying the fragrance and/or deodorant components. The fragrance or deodorant release device can be readily produced on an industrial scale, is easy for a user to handle, and employs a water swellable/water absorbing resin. The gel is produced by enclosing a water swellable/water absorbing resin in a water resistant container, such as a packet, having a water permeable portion and immersing the packet into an aqueous medium containing the fragrance and/or deodorant components whereby the resin absorbs the fragrance and/or deodorant components.
Abstract:
The present invention can provide a water-absorbent or water-retention material comprising water-absorbent resin derived from monomer unit components comprising 40 to 99 wt. % of hydroxyl alkyl (meth)acrylate, 1 to 60 wt. % of (meth)acrylic acid and/or alkali metal salt thereof and 0.00001 to 3 wt. % of crosslinking agent; and a water-absorbent or water-retention material comprising water-swellable polymer which is obtained by further thermally crosslinking a particles of partially alkaline neutralized product of a copolymer of 20 to 99 mol % of acrylamide and 1 to 80 mol % of acrylic acid. The water-absorbent or water-retention material of the present invention is not readily subject to an influence of salts, and the absorbency does not deteriorate with respect to an aqueous solution containing a great amount of metallic ion of salts.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a treating material for animal excretions comprising agglomerates of a powdery or short-fiber-like excretion treating base material and fine powder of water-absorbent resin sprinkled on the agglomerates, and also to a method of producing a treating material for animal excretions which comprises forming agglomerates from a powdery or short-fiber-like excretion base treating material using water and then, sprinkling fine powder of a water-absorbent resin on the agglomerates. The treating material for animal excretions according to the invention can quickly absorb moisture, and its surface is brought to a half dry condition soon after it absorbs urine. Thus, it is possible to prevent urine from being attached to the pet's fur and paw, and contaminating the room or the like. Further, by absorbing urine, the treating material becomes a rubber-like mass. Thus, only its portion having absorbed urine can be easily taken out and disposed. It is thus useful for treating excretions of pets or like animals.

Abstract:
This invention relates to fluid absorbent polymer compositions having the ability to absorb aqueous ionic fluids and water rapidly and efficiently. These fluid absorbent polymer compositions are prepared from fine base polymer particles which are ionically surface crosslinked and agglomerated into larger particles by the use of high energy mixing conditions. The fluid absorbent compositions of the invention find application in the preparation of absorbent articles such as diapers, sanitary napkins and incontinent devices.
Abstract:
Dewatering of sludge is accomplished by adding an organic fibrous material having the bulk specific gravity increased by being pressed or being wetted with water and a high molecular weight flocculant to the sludge, adjusting the resulting flocs to a diameter of not more than 1 mm, and subjecting the flocs to vacuum or pressure filtration.
