摘要： An electromagnetic camera shutter including an electrically conductive shutter blade and electrically conductive springs for urging the shutter blade into a first or a second position from a compressed position between the first and the second position. A permanent magnet is associated with said shutter blade and a control device applies a current through the springs and the shutter blade in a first direction to generate an electromagnetic field between the shutter blade and the permanent magnet so as to move the shutter blade from the first position to the second position and alternately, applies a current through the springs and the shutter blade in a second direction so as to move the shutter blade from the second position to the first position.

摘要： An electrographic printing apparatus for forming a toner image on a recording medium, includes: a) a magnetic brush having a rotatable magnetic core and a stationary outer cylindrical shell; b) an addressable array of transfer electrodes on the outer shell, the array including a plurality of parallel strips of high magnetic permeability, electrically conductive material arranged circumferentially around the shell and disposed under an electrically insulating layer, the insulating layer defining printing gaps over the strips; c) a receiver electrode arranged in spaced relation to the array of transfer electrodes to define a recording region through which a receiver can be moved; d) a developer supply for supplying developer powder having an electrically conductive, magnetic carrier and a first colored toner to the magnetic brush, and e) an electronic circuit adapted to selectively apply voltage pulses to the transfer electrodes to cause the toner to transfer from the developer powder to the receiver in an image-wise pattern. A method, includes the steps of: providing a developer including a toner; forming a plurality of parallel circumferential ridges of developer, the ridges having a length substantially greater than their width; providing a corresponding plurality of printing gaps in the central portions of the ridges of developer, the printing gaps having a length substantially less than the length of the ridges; and selectively transferring toner at the printing gaps from the ridges to a receiver in an image wise manner.

摘要： A microshutter array has a frame having a light transmissive portion. Linear microshutter elements extend across the light transmissive portion and in parallel to each other. Each microshutter element has a flat blade extended in a length direction and first and second torsion arms extending outwards from each side of the blade in the length direction, the blade extending across the light transmissive portion. A control circuit provides a separately-controlled and independent voltage that is applied to each of the linear microshutter elements. A controller sets the respective voltages applied to each of the linear microshutter elements.

摘要： Apparatus for thermal printing of a color image includes a donor member that contains a set of color stripes for each pixel in a repeating pattern in the cross-scan direction and in continuous stripes in the page scan direction. As the printing beam is scanned across the donor, it addresses the sequence of color dyes and if the beam is of sufficient intensity at any one of the color stripes; it causes the dye to transfer to the receiver material. To compensate for variations in the scan rate of the beam, light reflected from the donor member is used to form color timing signals that correspond to the color stripes of the pattern scanned by the beam. The timing signals align the modulation of the beam to the color stripe pattern of the donor member whereby accurate color registration is obtained.

摘要： Disclosed herein is a piezoelectric flexure device in which the piezoelectric element(s) thereof comprises a flexible piezoelectric layer (e.g. a suitably polarized polymeric film) which is tightly wound about an axis to produce a plurality of substantially concentric layers of piezoelectric material. Positioned between adjacent piezoelectric layers are conductive layers which function as electrodes for either applying an electric field across the piezoelectric layers to cause the device to flex, or for detecting the electrical potential produced in the device as a result of subjecting the piezoelectric element to a mechanical stress. Owing to the wound nature of the piezoelectric element, the device is relatively simple to manufacture and the conductive layers are less apt to crack or break during the manufacturing process. Also disclosed herein are techniques for producing such piezoelectric flexure devices.

摘要： A microshutter array has a frame having a light transmissive portion. Linear microshutter elements extend across the light transmissive portion and in parallel to each other. Each microshutter element has a flat blade extended in a length direction and first and second torsion arms extending outwards from each side of the blade in the length direction, the blade extending across the light transmissive portion. The magnetic recording layer is used to transfer information to and/or from the camera.
