    Abstract: The present disclosure provides an airplane ground deicing installation that minimizes the impact of deicing operations on the airport during icing conditions. The installation does not require alteration of a normal taxi pattern and can be performed as quickly as the average separation time between take-offs. The installation allows modification of its shape to adapt to the contour of almost all types of commercial passengers airplanes operating from major airports, and simultaneously deices large surfaces of the airplane. Deicing and anti-icing fluids are applied to airplane surfaces from nozzles positioned in close proximity to the airplane's surface. Speed and adaptability to different types of airplanes, combined with a design that allows rapid relocation of the installation, are key features that make it possible to place the installation on the taxiway, close to the head of the runway it serves, such that the taxi pattern and the separation in between takeoffs are not altered as compared to the normal operations of the airport.

    Abstract: A door closing latch for securely latching a door having a closing trigger mechanism coupled to a latching or tongue mechanism. A latch or tongue upon contacting a strike plate on a door frame is pushed inward causing a connecting trigger mechanism to release a closing trigger forcing the door to completely close and latch. Turning a handle or door knob to open the door causes the latch or tongue to retract and the closing trigger mechanism to reset the closing trigger. A connecting trigger mechanism selectively decouples the turning of a door knob to prevent the latch from releasing the set closing trigger.

    Abstract: A pneumatic door closer for closing a door having a controlled rate of closing that is generally uniform, smooth and safe. The door closer includes an elongated cylinder with a displaceable piston defining a vacuum chamber and a pressure chamber within the cylinder. A piston rod connected to the piston has its free end extending through a rod opening that includes an air impervious seal formed about the piston rod. A volume displacer placed within the cylinder adjusts the volume of the cylinder to better controlling door closing. Disposed in communication with the vacuum chamber is a breather arrangement for controlling the level of vacuum being created within the vacuum chamber during the closing stroke of the piston to control the resulting resistance forces acting on the piston such that the closing speed is substantially uniform throughout the closing stroke.

    Abstract: A method of fire-fighting is provided based on unmanned aerial vehicles “UAV(s)” launched from transporter aircrafts to deliver water or fire-retardants or any other fire-fighting materials to a location selected by the fire-fighting personnel. A capability of putting-off high intensity forest fires is provided that stems from the precision and the quantity of material that can be delivered per unit surface per unit time. After releasing the fire-fighting material(s), the UAV reaches a safe altitude from which it flies on autopilot to intercept and then proceed on a pre-programmed route to land per pre-programmed instructions on an airfield from which fire-fighting transporter(s) operate, allowing a high efficiency along the line, from loading the transporter airplanes to maximizing the quantity of material that reach the target, to minimizing the remote-pilot time and up to the recovery system that minimizes the recovery cost and it maximizes UAVs' utilization by a quick turnaround.

    Abstract: A door mechanism pulling a door closed for latching. A puller tongue is triggered to release when adjacent a strike plate or jamb of a door. The puller tongue pushes the door completely closed resulting in latching. A setting lever is rotated upon turning a door knob setting the puller tongue in a retracted position. A raising lever and pendulum selectively cause the releasing of the puller tongue when the latch contacts a strike plate or jamb of a door and prevents releasing of the puller tongue when a door knob is turned. A door is caused to securely latch even though the door is closing slowly and with little force.

    Abstract: This invention is directed to a door closer which is rendered optionally operative to effect either a controlled closing of the door upon opening or to automatically latch or arrest the door in the open position as may be desired. This is attained by a closer housing having a cylinder chamber and a connected latching chamber in which a piston is reciprocally mounted in the cylinder chamber which is biased by a compression spring toward the closed position. The piston rod connected to the piston extends through the end of the latching chamber and a latching member and an associated recoil spring is slidably disposed on the piston rod within the latching chamber. An arming device extends into the latching chamber which is shiftable between an armed position and an unarmed position. The arrangement is such that in the unarmed position, the door closer operates in a normal manner and when the arming mechanism is shifted to an armed position, the closer functions to automatically latch the door in the opened position. Unlatching is effected by displacing the door slightly toward opening position whereby the recoil spring effects the unlatching of the door, and whereby the door under the force of the compression spring is closed.

    Abstract: A door closer employing a cylinder having an end attachable to a door or door frame and slidably retaining a piston biased by a spring to a maximum retracted position in the cylinder. One end of a rod is attached to the piston and the other end extends from the cylinder and is attachable to a door frame or door. Confined to a short longitudinal space in the cylinder and riding on the rod, is a cantable washer. Structural members at the ends of the washer space in the cylinder maintain the washer in an essentially perpendicular orientation on the rod so that it may slide through the washer freely as the door is opened or closed. A positionable support, longitudinally buttressed from the cylinder, is introducible into the washer space so that the support may contact the washer on initiation of retraction of the rod into the cylinder causing the washer to cant, arrest the piston rod, and hold the door open. To unlatch the door, the positionable support is withdrawn to avoid canting contact with the washer. Several embodiments of the invention vary the elements of the positionable support.
