Abstract:
A thermoplastic polymer advanceable by solid state polymerization is blended with at least one dissimilar thermoplastic polymer. The blend is solid state polymerized to provide a modified polymer alloy blend having at least one physical or chemical property different from that of the blend before solid state polymerization. The modified polymer alloy blend may be coextruded with a layer of thermoplastic extrusion polymer having a melt viscosity similar to that of the modified polymer alloy.
Abstract:
Coating compositions that include a thermoplastic dispersion and an epoxy-functional stabilizer having polyhydric phenols that exhibit estrogenic activity less than bisphenol S.
Abstract:
A multi-coat coating system having an undercoat composition and an overcoat composition, wherein the undercoat, overcoat or both the undercoat and overcoat contain a polymer having segments of a specified formula and are substantially free of polyhydric phenols having estrogenic activity greater than or equal to that of bisphenol S. The coating system is suitable for use on a food-contact surface of food or beverage containers.
Abstract:
A thermally responsive composition includes a dye and a developer that is free of polyhydric phenols having estrogenic agonist activity greater than or equal to that of bisphenol S. The thermally responsive composition can be used to make BPA-free thermally responsive record materials.
Abstract:
A polymer and coating composition containing the polymer are provided that are useful in coating applications such as, for example, food or beverage packaging containers. The polymer preferably includes a backbone having one or more polycyclic groups. In one embodiment, the polymer is a polyester and, more preferably, a polyester-urethane polymer. In one embodiment, the one or more polycyclic groups is a tricyclic or higher group.
Abstract:
A thermoplastic polymer advanceable by solid state polymerization is blended with at least one dissimilar thermoplastic polymer, or an organic or inorganic particulate filler. The blend is solid state polymerized to provide a modified polymer alloy or filled polymer blend having at least one physical or chemical property different from that of the blend before solid state polymerization. A substrate is coated with an adherent layer of the modified polymer alloy or filled polymer blend. The modified polymer alloy or filled polymer blend may also be coextruded with a layer of thermoplastic extrusion polymer having a melt viscosity similar to that of the modified polymer alloy or filled polymer blend and applied to a substrate to form an adherent coating.
Abstract:
This invention provides a polymer that is useful in a variety of applications, including as a binder polymer of a coating composition, and especially a packaging coating composition. Packaging articles (e.g., containers) comprising the polymer and methods of making such packaging articles are also provided.

Abstract:
Polycarbonates made from polyhydric phenols that preferably exhibit estrogenic activity less than bisphenol S exhibit properties such as high impact strengths, moderate to high glass transition temperatures, chemical resistance, and good color and clarity similar to conventional BPA-derived polycarbonates.
Abstract:
This invention provides a polymer, which is preferably a polyether polymer, for use in coating compositions. Containers comprising the polymer and methods of making such containers are also provided. The invention further provides powder coating compositions including the polymer, which have utility in a variety of coating end uses, including, for example, valve and pipe coatings.
