摘要： A dispenser box for medical bandages including orthopedic splints is described. The dispenser box includes at least one moisture impermeable container connected with a face plate containing a periphery gasket. The bandage exits through a slot in the face plate. A door is pivotally connected to and mechanically biased against the face plate. When the door is closed, a moisture resistant environment is maintained for the stored bandage materials.

摘要： A knee brace is provided with push button actuatable stops, wherein the stops are biased outward into angular locking positions and inwardly directed pressure on the push buttons releases the stops and permits angular adjustment of the stops. A pair of catch plates with locking recesses facing inward, are provided, and outwardly biased locking pins engage the recesses in both catch plates. Each of the stop assemblies has an outwardly directed plate extending over the outer cover plate, and this plate is coupled to the physical stop member around the outer edge of the outer cover plate. The cover plate has angular indicia thereon, which may be viewed through windows in the outwardly extending plate portions of the stop assemblies.

摘要： An orthopaedic support assembly is formed of a double-knit type fabric material with spaced interwoven layers formed of high strength materials and an open-work matrix of filaments or threads interconnecting the layers. The fabric preferably includes high strength stiff filaments of fiberglass, carbon fibers, or aramids and thermoplastic material to facilitate heat bonding of cut edges. The fabric is impregnated with a water-hardenable material. The support material or product is packaged in a water-vapor impermeable package; and is opened and water is supplied to the fabric when it is applied to the part of the anatomy requiring support. The fabric may be included in a soft goods support including a water distribution network and straps to hold the support in place. The double-knit type material may be variable in thickness and may be three dimensional in its configuration. An orthopaedic support or splint may have an inner core material of the double-knit type fabric, an impermeable stretch bonded laminate layer on one side, and a microporous plastic layer on the other side to facilitate water activation of the core material.

摘要： An orthopaedic support or product is formed of a doubleknit type fabric material with spaced interwoven layers formed of high strength materials and an open-work matrix of filaments or threads interconnecting the layers. The fabric may be impregnated with water hardenable urethane. Hydroxy propyl methyl-cellulose (HPMC) will also be applied to the doubleknit type material or other casting fabric in sufficient amount to reduce the stickiness of the water hardenable urethane. The HPMC may be mixed in with the water hardenable urethane prior to impregnation, or may be applied to at least one of the outer surfaces of the doubleknit type material. The orthopaedic support or product is packaged in a water-vapor impermeable package; and is opened and water is supplied to the fabric when it is applied to the part of the anatomy requiring support. The fabric may be included in a soft goods support including a water distribution network and straps to hold the support in place.

摘要： An improved ankle brace that is easily adjustable for improved comfort and use. The ankle brace includes a pair of relatively rigid side supports to fit about a lower leg of a patient, and the lower area of the side supports may be adapted to position an assembly of heel straps. The assembly may include at least two straps, which are coupled at the ends and adapted to adjust the effective length of the assembly, so that it may be accommodated for different heel widths of different patients. Alternatively, the assembly may include three pieces, an intermediary member for linking the other two straps. The assembly may be attached to the side supports through a pin mechanism that may be either capped (as by heat staking) or welded at the end to hold it in position. Alternatively, a cap with protruding plastic pin may be molded directly onto the strap, effectively making them one piece to be assembled as such. Also, the assembly is preferably made of flexible resilient material so that it will comfortably conform to patient's heel, but be resistant to stretching.

摘要： An improved ankle brace may have two relatively rigid side supports, the outer edge portion of the lower area of the side supports, adjacent to the ankle being covered with a flexible or resilient material. The flexible resilient material may be permanently secured to the side supports by bonding, mechanical interlocking, or by any other suitable arrangements. Additional resilient flexible material may be placed on the interior surface of the side supports to improve the fit and comfort of the brace around the user's lower leg. The rigid side supports may be of an open type with the resilient flexible material extending across the side supports and beyond the edges thereof. The lower area of the side supports may include a pivoting mechanism to adjustably receive heel straps. Each of the side supports may include a structural frame that surrounds but does not cover the ankle or malleolus.

摘要： A back support assembly including a bulb pump which when pumped or squeezed by the user inflates an air cushion to exert the desired pressure and fit against the user's lower back. The cushion is secured to the middle of the elastic belt, which is adapted to wrap around the user's back to position the air cushion against the middle of the user's back. Opposing adjustment straps are attached to the back of the strap. With the belt secured around the user the adjustment straps can be pulled and releasably secured to the belt and/or each other at respective positions exerting the desired force on the air cushion and against the user's back. The bulb pump is conveniently attached to and carried by one of the adjustment straps. It is secured to the rear of that strap, and has its rounded forward portion extending out through an opening in the strap, operatively accessible for inflation/deflation by the user. That is, with this mounting arrangement the bulb pump is out of the way, but still readily accessible for squeeze pumping action by the user, and by its shape, construction and location advantageously has a low profile.

摘要： An ankle brace designed to be worn under the shoe has a first bladder which is filled with the high viscosity gel resistant to rapid deformation to apply pressure to the ankle and conform to its shape to provide support to the ankle. A second bladder inflatable with air is juxtaposed the first bladder to provide a uniform compressive force upon the bladder filled with the gel. A canvas ankle brace holds a pair of air and gel bladders along each of its sidewalls and is wrapped about the lower extremity and snugly fit thereto. Once the brace is in position, air is introduced into the second bladder to press the first bladder against the ankle and to conform to the shape thereof. Broad elastic straps may be secured to the lower rear of the brace to extend over the front of the ankle and the instep in a cruciate configuration. The outer ends of the straps are secured to lines which extend through openings in the outer casing of the brace, and D-rings secured to the ends of the lines permit the tensioning of the elastic straps by threading shoe laces through the rings and tightening the laces.

摘要： An improved, lightweight and removable leg walker is provided for stabilizing and rapidly healing lower leg injuries of a patient. The injured limb is disposed in a removable inner ankle bootie whose interior is partially covered with inflatable support bladders. While the foot is secured within the booties, it is then inserted into and additionally supported by a removable soft goods-type support. The soft goods-type support is securely attached to a walker frame by a combination of strap fasteners with Velcro attachments. Inflatable bladders are located along the inner surfaces of two strut bases and raised heel strip. A tongue portion of the soft goods-type support also includes an inflatable bladder which provides additional support to the injured limb. These inflatable bladders encourage proper circulation from the lower leg to the heart. The walker frame comprises a pair of strut bases and struts in order to prevent inversion and eversion of the ankle. The full length sole portion of the walker is novelly constructed of two halves joined together. This construction is structurally superior to other walkers and braces insofar as it costs less and weighs less than other walkers currently manufactured. The heel portion of the sole also is constructed to form a cantilever spring, shock absorbing element.
