摘要:
A technique is proposed for normalizing the multi-bit output of a RAKE receiver by automatically selecting from it fewer bits which are representative of the data in the CDMA signal. The invention is applicable to a CDMA signal in which the data is transmitted discontinuously and a pilot symbol is inserted into the data sequence and transmitted at a different power level. The proposed technique may be operated either on the basis that the power ratio of the pilot part of the CDMA signal to the data part is known, or alternatively without any knowledge of this power ratio. In both cases the pilot part is used to determine the bit position on which the normalization works, and also the fine adjustment of the data part of the CDMA signal.

Adders each add up an addition value sent from a metric calculator and a state metric read from a memory. A maximum value selector generates a first likelihood when a data bit is 1, based on the addition values added up by the adders. A maximum value selector generates a second likelihood when a data bit is 0, based on the addition values added up by the adders. A subtracter subtracts the second likelihood from the first likelihood to generate a likelihood ratio, and a subtracter subtracts data from the likelihood ratio and generates extrinsic information. A re-normalizer multiplies the extrinsic information by a predetermined value to re-normalize it and temporarily stores it in a memory. The extrinsic information stored in the memory is used as the prior probability information for the next iterative decoding.

In accordance with one or more aspects, a current security policy for accessing a device or volume of a computing device is identified. A secondary access control state for the device or volume is also identified. An access state for the device is determined based on both the current security policy and the secondary access control state.

A solid state molecular sensor having an aperture extending through a thickness of a sensing region is configured with a sensing region thickness that corresponds to the characteristic extent of at least a component of a molecular species to be translocated through the aperture. A change in an electrical characteristic of the sensing region is measured during the molecular species translocation. The sensor can be configured as a field effect transistor molecular sensor. The sensing region can be a region of graphene including an aperture extending through a thickness of the graphene.

A thin film interleaver device is disclosed. The thin film interleaver includes thin film optics. The thin film(s) are formed such that they reflect one group of wavelengths while allowing a second group of wavelengths to pass through the thin film(s). The thin film(s) exhibit a flat top frequency response across the channel bandwidths of the multiplexed signal for which the thin film filter is designed such that the thin film interleaver is less sensitive to wavelength drift and temperature variations.

Optical devices are disclosed, one example of which includes first and second polarization maintaining (“PM”) fibers. The first and second PM fibers in this example are disposed beside each other to form a grouping that includes a secondary axis defined by the first and second PM fibers. The first and second PM fibers are oriented such that a fast axis of the first PM fiber is non-parallel with respect to a fast axis of the second PM fiber. Finally, the optical device is configured so that each of the PM fibers maintains a distinct optical transmission path.

A first process operating on a computer comprises code to be executed in connection therewith, where the code includes at least one triggering device. A digital license corresponds to the first process and sets forth terms and conditions for operating the first process. A second process operating on the computer proxy-executes code corresponding to each triggering device of the first process on behalf of such first process. The second process includes a selection of options to thwart reverse engineering by a debugger if a debugger is detected. The options include execution by a proxy engine of a re-routed call, crashing the first process, detection ad elimination of a debugger related interrupt a call to an arbitrary function.

A method for improving the extinction ratio of a grouping of polarization maintaining (PM) fibers is disclosed, comprising: providing a plurality of PM fibers, the PM fibers each having corresponding principal axes; disposing the plurality of PM fibers as a grouping, the grouping having corresponding secondary axes; and aligning the plurality of PM fibers such that the corresponding principal axes of the plurality of the PM fiber and the secondary axes of the grouping intersect at a predetermined angle. Through the methods of the present invention, the extinction ratio of PM fibers may be improved.
