摘要: A method for receiving a media stream, whereby the media stream is segmented in a plurality of consecutive segments. A Manifest file is received, whereby the Manifest file comprises an indication of media segments in a URI template manner and a start index referencing a first segment of said media stream. From the received information within the Manifest file different URIs are assembled, whereby an assembled URI references a segment of said plurality of segments and whereby assembling is based on said indication and an index, whereby the index is calculated on basis of the start index and is incremented by a predetermined value for each consecutive segment. By means of these assembled URIs said segments are received, whereby receiving is based on an identifier allowing for identifying packets of a same segment, whereby said segments are spread over a plurality of packets and each packet of a particular segment comprises said particular identifier, whereby the index is mapped to the identifier. The fetched media segment packets are reassembled to form said media stream.

摘要: A method performed by a server of a communication network for making an HTTP media stream accessible to a client is provided. A Media Presentation Description (MPD) is generalized, such that the MPD is provided with at least one period element sequentially arranged according to a media play timeline. Each period element is provided with at least one representation such that at least one of the period elements is provided with at least two alternative representations. Each representation is provided with an ordered sequence of at least one media segment URI. Each media segment URI references at least one media segment of the HTTP media stream. The generated MPD enables a client to select representations and to acquire referenced media segments based on the selected representations.

摘要: The invention relates to a mobile telecommunication device (22) comprising: a receiver (40) for receiving content data via a mobile telecommunication network; a play-out buffer (41) for holding downloaded but yet un-played content data; a media reader (42) for reading content data at a media rate from the play-out buffer and for sending content to a display or speaker for rendering; a segment request controller (46) for sending media segment requests to a remote server; a buffer fill monitor (45) for checking a fill level of the play-out buffer, continuously or at least at the end of a media segment download. The segment request controller (46) is configured switch between a state of continuously requesting media segments and a state of not requesting any media segments. This switching is depending on the fill level. By restricting the download of segments, more and longer idle period are created which increases the chance that the radio state is switched down, so as to save battery and resources.

摘要: The invention relates to a technique for controlling a content distribution in a point-to-multipoint (“PTM”)-enabled network environment (100), wherein, over a PTM control channel “CCH” (120, 122), control information related to the content distribution is provided for recipients (112, 114, 116) of the content distribution. The control information is provided over the CCH according to a notification scheme indicating a temporal pattern for the provision of the control information. A method embodiment of the technique comprises the step adopting, for a content distribution, either a first control information notification scheme provided for a distribution of streaming content or a second control information notification scheme provided for a distribution of one or more content files.

摘要: A system, method, and media edge proxy, MEP, (17) for providing media data such as Internet Protocol Television, IPTV, or Internet radio channels to a media client (12). The MEP obtains the media data from a media server (18) utilizing a temporary unicast connection and provides the media data obtained from the server to the media client for an initial time period. Upon determining that the initial time period has expired, the MEP obtains the media data via multicast from a multicast router (27), provides the media data obtained from the router to the media client, and releases the temporary unicast connection. The invention reduces channel switching delay and thus improves quality-of-experience for the end-user. The invention also avoids excessive IGMP JOIN/LEAVE signaling when a user switches quickly through channels.

摘要: A converter node 27 of an Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) Network 20 comprises a first port 32 for communicating with a receiver 23 (for example a set top box), and a second port 28 for communicating with a video headed end 25 (for example a source of IP Multicast traffic. The converter node also comprises a converting unit 31. In response to receiving, via the first port 32, a request from the receiver 23 to join an internet protocol multicast group (e.g. tune-in to an IPTV channel), the converting unit 31 of the converter node 27 is configured to convert IP Multicast traffic 29 received from the video headed end 25 via the second port 28 into IP Unicast traffic 33 (i.e. personalised traffic), which is forwarded to the receiver 23 via the first port 32.
