Abstract: A controller for an internal combustion engine is configured to execute a determination process and an anomaly diagnosing process. The determination process is a process of determining that a deviation between a first change amount and a second change amount during a fuel cutoff operation is less than or equal to a threshold. The anomaly diagnosing process is a process of determining that an exhaust purification device is in a detached state when it is determined in the determination process that the deviation is less than or equal to the threshold. The first change amount and the second change amount are change amounts per unit time of the temperature of exhaust gas on the upstream side and the downstream side of the exhaust purification device, respectively.

Abstract: A controller for an internal combustion engine is configured to execute a regeneration process of burning and removing particulate matter accumulated in an exhaust purification device, a determination process of determining that a deviation between a first change amount and a second change amount is less than or equal to a threshold, the first change amount and the second change amount being change amounts per unit time of the temperature of exhaust gas on the upstream side and the downstream side of the exhaust purification device, respectively, and an anomaly diagnosing process that determines that the exhaust purification device is in a detached state when the determination process determines that the deviation is less than or equal to the threshold. The controller is configured to not execute the determination process during a period from the end of the regeneration process to when a post-regeneration execution condition is met.

Abstract: A control device for an internal combustion engine is provided. The internal combustion engine includes a cylinder, an in-cylinder pressure sensor, a fuel injection valve, and an alcohol concentration sensor. The control device includes an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to: carry out learning of fuel properties with the fuel injected from the fuel injection valve as a target; calculate a combustion speed parameter, showing a combustion speed, within the cylinder, of the fuel that is a learning target of the fuel properties, on a basis of the in-cylinder pressure; and determine that water is included in the fuel when the capacitance of the fuel detected by the alcohol concentration sensor is larger than a preset first threshold, and when the combustion speed of the fuel within the cylinder is smaller than a preset second threshold.

Abstract: A controller for an internal combustion engine is configured, when the speed of combustion of a fuel in a cylinder changes as the property of the fuel injected from a fuel injection valve changes, to change a combustion limit excess air ratio that is a target value of a fuel injection amount feedforward control according to a first relationship that the combustion limit excess air ratio increases as the speed of combustion of the fuel in the cylinder increases. The controller is also configured, when the speed of combustion of the fuel in the cylinder changes as the property of the fuel injected from the fuel injection valve changes, to change the value of a combustion limit combustion speed parameter that is the target value of a fuel injection amount feedback control according to a second relationship that the speed of combustion of the fuel in the cylinder corresponding to a combustion limit increases as the speed of combustion of the fuel in the cylinder increases.

Abstract: A control apparatus for an internal combustion engine is configured, during a slightly stratified-charge lean-burn operation, to: calculate a basic total fuel injection amount based on a required torque; calculate a compression stroke injection amount based on an ignition delay index value; calculate, as a basic main injection amount, a value obtained by subtracting a compression stroke injection amount from the basic total fuel injection amount; calculate, based on an output value of an in-cylinder pressure sensor, an actual specified combustion index value that represents a main combustion speed or a combustion fluctuation rate; calculate a main injection correction term based on a result of a comparison between a target specified combustion index value or a tolerable specified combustion index value, and the actual specified combustion index value; and calculate a main injection amount by adding the main injection correction term to the basic main injection amount.
