Abstract: An engagement device includes: a clutch unit including annular input and output elements disposed so as to face each other in an axial direction, plate-shaped engagement pieces provided in the input element or the output element, and an annular selector plate disposed between the input and output elements to switch a posture of the engagement pieces and switched between an engagement state and a release state; and an actuator operating the selector plate and control the engagement state and the release state of the clutch unit. Further, the actuator includes an actuator main body generating a force for operating the selector plate, and the actuator main body is disposed radially inwards beyond the clutch unit.

The selectable one-way clutch is shifted between overrunning mode and engagement mode by rotating a selector plate interposed between a notch plate and a pocket plate. Abstract: A power transmission apparatus for a vehicle includes an engagement mechanism and a switching mechanism. The switching mechanism includes: a hydraulic cylinder; a regulation valve regulates a hydraulic pressure to be supplied to a first oil chamber and a second oil chamber; a rocking valve switches a state of a hydraulic circuit between a closed circuit state and an open circuit state; and an oil pump supplies the hydraulic pressure to the hydraulic cylinder. The switching mechanism switches the engagement mechanism between an engaged state and a disengaged state after the hydraulic circuit is switched from the closed circuit state to the open circuit state by the rocking valve. The switching mechanism keeps the engaged state or the disengaged state of the engagement mechanism after switching the engaged state or the disengaged state of the engagement mechanism.

Abstract: A selectable one-way clutch includes an engagement mechanism. The engagement mechanism is configured to be switched between an engaged state and a disengaged state. The engaged state is a state in which relative rotation between a first and a second members in one of a positive rotational direction and a reverse rotational direction is restricted. The disengaged state is a state in which the relative rotation between the first member and the second member in both of the positive and the reverse rotational direction is permitted. The electronic control unit is configured to apply torque to the one of the first member or the second member by using a motor such that relative rotation in the other one of the positive or the reverse rotational direction is generated between the first member and the second member when the engagement mechanism is switched from the engaged state to the disengaged state.
