摘要： A pair of coiled compression springs expand to urge a clutch actuator from an uncoupled to a coupled position in which shoes carried from a driven member couple it to a driving member. In the uncoupled position, the shoes are released from the driving member and the springs are compressed with their axes parallel. The springs engage the actuator tangentially from opposite sides for urging it angularly and are proportioned such that as the springs expand the distance through which they work increases, and the torque applied to the actuator increases because the increase of torque due to the increase in distance is greater than the loss of torque due to spring relaxation. Accordingly, as the clutch wears torque applied to couple the driving and driven members increases.

摘要： An input/output assembly comprises a pair of members coupled such that a first thereof carrying an input/output element is reciprocative relative the second at each position of the second; and both members are translocatable simultaneously in a path extending transversely of the direction of reciprocation. First and second electrical induction coils, having portions which are coupled in the magnetic flux field of a permanent magnet structure, are secured to the first and second members, respectively, with the coupled portions disposed in planes having orthogonal aspects, each to the other. The second coil is circumposed about a rail which is included in the magnetic structure and is movable longitudinally thereof in response to magnetmotive forces when the transducer is adapted as a motor and in response to mechanical forces applied to the element when the transducer is adapted as a generator for generating an electrical effect therein. The displacement of the second coil results in simultaneous movement of the first coil longitudinally of said rail. The first coil is arranged in said flux field for movement transversely of said rail independently from the second coil such that the element is reciprocated when the transducer operates as a motor and an electrical effect is generated therein upon movement of the element along a vector having a velocity coordinate corresponding to the first coil when the transducer operates as a generator. The rail may be arcuate whereby the first member is reciprocative radially, along an r axis, independently of said second member with which it is simultaneously translocatable angularly, along a theta axis in a plane with the r axis.

摘要： Driveable type dies of a teleprinter are supported in intersecting rows and columns from a type carrier which is arranged for adjustment in intersecting paths at successive stations to which the carrier is moved for presenting any selected die in a position for character reproduction. Adjustment and movement of the carrier and translocation of an impeller to successive printing stations for driving successively selected dies between print and non-print modes results from magnetomotive phenomena generated by a linear electric motor. In the magnetic flux field of the motor, a pair of mechanically coupled electrical coils are adapted magnetomotively to produce (1) vertical adjustment of an output member to which the carrier is secured and in a path corresponding to type row adjustment, (2) horizontal adjustment of a trolley from which the output member is adjustably carried and in a path corresponding to type column adjustment and (3) horizontal stepping movement of said trolley to successive printing stations. A magnetomotive force, which a third electrical coil of the motor is adapted to induce, steps the impeller to successive printing stations.

摘要： An elongated actuator is arranged for rocking between a pair of rails defining a generally horizontal path. Therein, the actuator is pivotally connected, off-center from its opposed ends, to an output member which is constrained for reciprocation in a vertical course extending transversely of the path. Displacement of the output member is effected by rocking the opposed ends of the actuator into bearing association with inner path defining surfaces of the rails.
