Abstract:
Provided are systems and methods for managing storage of machine data. In one embodiment, a method can be provided. The method can include receiving, from one or more data sources, raw machine data; processing the raw machine data to generate processed machine data; storing the processed machine data in a data store; and determining an allocated data size associated with the processed machine data stored in the data store, wherein the allocated data size is the size of the raw machine data corresponding to the processed machine data stored in the data store.

Abstract:
A data intake and query system provides interfaces that enable users to configure source type definitions used by the system. A data intake and query system generally refers to a system for collecting and analyzing data including machine-generated data. Such a system may be configured to consume many different types of machine data generated by any number of different data sources including various servers, network devices, applications, etc. At a high level, a source type definition comprises one or more properties that define how various components of a data intake and query system collect, index, store, search and otherwise interact with particular types of data consumed by the system. The interfaces provided by the system generally comprise one or more interface components for configuring various attributes of a source type definition.

Abstract:
Provided are systems and methods for causing display of an index management graphical user interface (GUI). In one embodiment, a method can be provided. The method can include causing display of an index management GUI including one or more user editable fields for specifying one or more index settings; receiving, via the one or more user editable fields of the index management GUI, one or more user specified index settings; generating an index definition corresponding to the one or more user specified index settings; and distributing the index definition to one or more indexers of a data processing system. The one or more indexers are able to manage storage of data in one or more indexes based at least in part on the index definition.
