Abstract: Provided are a sound output control apparatus, a sound output control system, a sound output control method, and a program that can appropriately thin out the output of pieces of sound data. A sound data reception section receives a plurality of pieces of sound data transmitted from transmission apparatuses that are different from each other. A selection section selects a portion of the plurality of pieces of sound data on the basis of at least one of a result of a voice activity detection process performed on each of the pieces of sound data or moving averages of volumes of sounds represented by the pieces of sound data. A sound data transmission section outputs the selected portion of the pieces of sound data.

Abstract: Techniques for managing notifications are described. In an example, a computing device receives notification data. The computing device compares a first context associated with the notification data and a second context associated with an application executing in an application window on a display. The computing device determines whether the notification data is to be presented in the application window or is to be sent to a queue based on the comparison, the queue storing other notification data corresponding to another notification. The computing device also presents, based on the comparison, at least the notification data or a notification in the application window over at least a portion of content from execution of the application while a presentation of the content continues, the notification distinct from the notification data and indicating that the notification data is presented.

Abstract: In a chat system, chat servers are disposed in a distributed fashion in different regions. A client terminal issues an opening request for opening a chat room in response to a user's action. A gateway acquires the region of the client terminal as a request source from the opening request signal. A relay point allocation server selects an appropriate chat server or a region thereof from the standpoint of regions and communication speeds, and requests the chat server to open a chat room. The chat server relays chat data among the client terminals.
