Abstract: A tubular apparatus includes an upper joint, an inner cylinder, a piston, a metal seal, a bearing, and an anvil. The upper joint is connected to an outer cylinder. The inner cylinder has a cavity and is disposed within the outer cylinder. The piston has a piston rod disposed within the cavity of the inner cylinder and is moveable along an axis. The metal seal is disposed between the inner cylinder and a cylinder gland. The piston rod extends through the cylinder gland to a hammer, and a portion of the hammer is disposed within an outer tube. The bearing is disposed between the hammer and the outer tube. The anvil has a bit head and is connected to the hammer.

Abstract: A rig site may include a rotary table within a rig floor above a wellbore. A fabric sheet rolled into two symmetrical rolls is disposed on the rig floor. A pre-cut center hole of the fabric sheet is coaxial with the rotary table. A casing string, to be lowered in the wellbore, includes a first casing joint at a bottom of the casing string is a modified float joint. The pre-cut center hole of the fabric sheet is attached to a sleeve of the modified float joint. Union units are provided above the rotary table. The union units close the fabric sheet around the casing string to form a fabric-nested casing string within the wellbore. A cement slurry is pumped down the casing string and into a space between the fabric sheet and the casing string to cement the fabric-nested casing string to the wellbore.

Abstract: A system having an instrumented cutter of a drill bit including an on-cutter sensor for monitoring drilling performance metrics while performing drilling operations based on offset well data and a computing device is disclosed. The computing device executes a model development system configured to use the drilling performance metrics, surface drilling parameters, and characteristics of the instrumented cutter to train a machine learning (ML) model. The trained ML model is used to optimize drilling parameters and predict drill bit performance in a current well.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing a loss circulation zone in a subterranean well include a tool housing located on a surface of a tubular member with a tool cavity that is an interior open space within the tool housing. An electromechanical system is located within the tool cavity and has a printed circuit board, a microprocessor, a sensor system, a power source, and a communication port assembly. A release system can move a deployment door of a deployment opening of the tool housing between a closed position and an open position. The deployment opening can provide a flow path between the tool cavity and an outside of the tool housing. The release system is actuable autonomously by the electromechanical system. A releasable product is located within the tool cavity and can travel through the deployment opening when the deployment door is in the open position.

The inner structure body has an outer surface in opposing relation to the inner surface and a central bore. Movable elements are positioned along the inner surface and movably coupled to the outer structure body. Ball elements are positioned along the outer surface and coupled to the inner structure body for movement with the inner structure body. The ball elements releasably contact the movable elements and impart motion to the movable elements in response to relative motion between the inner structure body and the outer structure body. Energy harvesters are positioned to generate electrical charges based on piezoelectric effect or magnetostrictive effect when motion is imparted to the movable elements by the ball elements.

Abstract: A system includes sensing modules positioned along a length of a drill string. Each sensing module includes a structure arrangement composed of an outer structure body having a cavity and an inner structure body rotatably supported within the cavity. The structure arrangement is coupled to the drill string such that rotation of the drill string produces a relative rotation between the structure bodies. Ball elements are disposed in a gap between the structure bodies and move along a predetermined path defined in the gap in response to relative rotation between the structure bodies. Movable elements are positioned to physically interact with the ball elements as the ball elements move along the predetermined path. Energy harvesters in the sensor modules generate electrical energy from the mechanical energy produced by physical interaction between the ball elements and movable elements. The sensing modules include sensors to measure parameters in the drill string environment.

An upper boundary of the chamber includes a seal and a lower boundary of the chamber includes a liquid surface and determining a volume of the chamber at a first time. The method further includes determining the volume of the chamber includes measuring, using a pressure gauge, a first pressure within the chamber, changing an amount of a gas in the chamber, and measuring, using the pressure gauge, a second pressure within the chamber. The method further includes determining a first volume of gas within the chamber based on the first and second pressure measurements and the change in the amount of gas, and determining a first fluid level based on the first volume of the chamber.
