    Abstract: A method for MCCH acquisition in a 5G wireless network (1000) by a UE (100) includes: receiving, by the UE, a MCCH change notification from the gNodeB over a PDCCH. Further, the method includes detecting whether at least one of the UE is interested to receive a new MBS and the UE is already receiving an MBS. Further, the method includes determining the start of the new MBS session for the new MBS by reading the first bit of the MCCH change notification in response to detecting that the UE is interested to receive the new MBS, or determining the modification to the MBS session configuration of the ongoing MBS session by reading the second bit of the MCCH change notification in response to detecting that the UE is already receiving the MBS.

    Abstract: Methods performed by a User Equipment (UE) are provided for enabling Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services (MBMS) reception, the methods include creating, by at least one processor, a unified service guide including a list of at least one MBMS service available over at least one communication path based on information about the at least one MBMS service; selecting, by the at least one processor, a first communication path among the at least one communication path for a selected MBMS service among the list of the at least one MBMS service based on at least one of a signal condition of Multicast Broadcast Single Frequency Network (MBSFN) cell, signal conditions of a serving cell, service availability or a packet switched (PS) enabled stack; and providing, by the at least one processor, the selected MBMS service over the selected communication path.

    Abstract: The present disclosure discloses systems and methods for providing continuous Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) and unicast services during mobility. On detecting mobility from a first cell to a second cell, the User Equipment (UE) receives system information and a preamble transmission signal. A System Information (SI) time window is determined from the system information and a Random-Access Response (RAR) window is determined using the preamble transmission signal. The UE performs either an SI-Radio Network Temporary Identifier (SI-RNTI) decode on System Information Block Type 2 (SIB2) during the SI time window or a Random Access (RA)-RNTI decode during the RAR window. Subsequently, the UE decodes MBMS-RNTI (M-RNTI) before and after the selected window based on an MBMS configuration received from the first cell. Thereafter, the UE receives a Multimedia Broadcast Single Frequency Network (MBSFN) configuration for the second cell, which is enables uninterrupted MBMS and unicast services.

    Abstract: Systems and/or methods for handling Radio Frequency (RF) resources between a Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services (MBMS) stack and a non-MBMS stack in a Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS) device. The method includes operations of receiving, by an arbitrator module, an MBMS configuration from the MBMS stack, calculating, by the arbitrator module, one or more available RF occasions and a duration of each of the one or more RF occasions based on MBMS configuration, updating the non-MBMS stack information on the availability of the one or more RF occasions along with the corresponding durations in absolute time, and receiving information from the non-MBMS stack on completion of operations utilizing the one or more available RF occasions.

    Abstract: A method for performing evolved multimedia broadcast and multicast service (eMBMS) counting efficiently in wireless systems is provided. The method includes receiving by a radio link control (RLC) layer of a User Equipment (UE), a Multicast Control Channel (MCCH) packet containing an MBMS counting request from a network. The RLC layer then transfers the MCCH packet to a Radio Resource Control (RRC) layer of the UE. The RRC layer processes the MBMS counting request and generating an MBMS counting response by and transmits an indication for successful reception of the MBMS counting request to the RLC layer. The RLC layer verifies if a subsequent MCCH modification boundary indication is received in a selected MCCH modification period and discards one or more subsequent MCCH packets received in a selected MCCH modification period if the MCCH modification boundary indication is not received from a physical layer.
