    Abstract: An image pickup apparatus capable of performing a zooming function without increasing a thickness of the image pickup apparatus, and obtaining depth information at the same time by using lens elements having different diameters, is provided. The image pickup apparatus includes lens elements, and image pickup regions respectively disposed in correspondence to the lens elements. At least two of the lens elements have different diameters. At least two of the image pickup regions have different sizes. A smallest image pickup region among the image pickup regions having a smallest size among sizes of the image pickup regions is disposed with respect to a lens element among the lens elements having a largest diameter. A largest image pickup region among the image pickup regions having a largest size among sizes of the image pickup regions is disposed with respect to a lens element among the lens elements having a smallest diameter.

    Abstract: Provided are an image pickup apparatus and method capable of improving a resolution of an image having depth information. The image pickup apparatus may include: a main lens configured to refract incident light; an image sensor comprising a plurality of two-dimensional (2D)-arranged pixels configured to output an image signal according to the incident light; a micro lens array between the main lens and the image sensor and comprising a plurality of 2D-arranged micro lenses; and a controller configured to receive the image signal from the image sensor and to generate an image according to the received image signal, wherein the controller is configured to obtain a plurality of images having different depths of field by changing a distance between the main lens and the image sensor and to obtain at least one depth map from the at least one of the obtained plurality of images.

    Abstract: A photographing apparatus and a photographing method are provided. The photographing apparatus includes: a viewfinder configured to display a live image; a display configured to display the live image and receive a touch input; and a controller configured to activate at least one selected from the viewfinder and the display according to whether a user approaches the photographing apparatus and activate a set area of a display area of the display for performing an autofocusing function in response to the viewfinder being activated. The set area is an area where a touch for setting an autofocusing area of the live image displayed through the viewfinder is input. Therefore, the user intuitively performs autofocusing on the live image with observing the live image displayed through the viewfinder.
