Abstract:
An electronic device and method utilizes an external sensor group to facilitate miniaturization the device and repair/replacement of external sensors. An interface connected to an external sensor package including at least one sensor. A processor that when the external sensor package is connected through the interface, determines from which group the external sensor package is included in among pre-configured groups and controls the performance of a function corresponding to the determined group.
Abstract:
A method for sensing a fingerprint, comprising: receiving, by an electronic device, a sound wave signal that is reflected from an object; detecting at least one echo signal that is associated with the object for each reception period in a plurality of reception periods, wherein the at least one echo signal is detected based on the sound wave signal; and detecting the fingerprint based on the at least one echo signal.
Abstract:
Provided is a fingerprint authentication system and a method of authentication. The fingerprint authentication system may have a configuration to analyze a reflection wave signal reflected at a surface of an object under examination or an internal of the object under examination by applying a wave signal from at least one of signal communication unit of a fingerprint sensor to the object under examination. In the method of authentication, the controller in the fingerprint authentication system may be configured to selectively perform a first step authentication to authenticate a shape of a fingerprint, and a second step authentication to detect internal biometric information of the object under examination.
Abstract:
An electronic device comprising: an ultraviolet (UV) light sensor; and a processor configured to: generate a plurality of initial UV light measurements by using the UV light sensor, wherein each of the plurality of initial UV light measurements is associated with a respective orientation of the electronic device; and select a reference UV light measurement from the plurality.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for selecting a satellite system which performs a positioning in an electronic device are provided. The method and apparatus include determining a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) use mode, determining area information, the area information being information on an area where the electronic device is positioned, and selecting and activating at least one satellite system suitable for the area information among a plurality of GNSSs.

Abstract:
A method of location information in a mobile device capable of improving position accuracy of the mobile device using a database (DB) of peripheral auxiliary data when GPS and navigation are performed in the mobile device, and an apparatus thereof is provided. The method of providing location information in a mobile device includes acquiring initial location information of the mobile device when a location based service is executed, transmitting the acquired initial location information to a server, receiving auxiliary data corresponding to the initial location information from the server, classifying satellites to be used to determine a location with reference to the auxiliary data, and determining the location based on a satellite signal of a satellite having a high weight through the classification of the satellites.
Abstract:
A method of measuring an altitude in a portable terminal is provided. The method includes receiving a reference altitude from an information providing device fixed and installed at a certain point, measuring a current atmospheric pressure of the certain point, calculating an altitude of the certain position using the measured current atmospheric pressure and a reference atmospheric pressure, and storing a difference between the reference altitude and the calculated altitude of the certain point as an altitude error.
