Abstract: A method for compensating luminance of a display device according to some embodiments of the present disclosure includes capturing an image of the display device, generating imaging data, primarily mapping display pixels of the display device and the imaging data so that a unit mapping area corresponding to the display pixels includes luminance values for image pixels of an imaging device, setting an offset value of the imaging data with respect to the display pixels so that a maximum luminance value among the luminance values is positioned at a center of the unit mapping area, secondarily mapping the imaging data according to the offset value with respect to the display pixels, calculating a representative luminance value, and setting a luminance correction value corresponding to the representative luminance value with respect to one of the display pixels.

Abstract: A display device includes: a memory; a pixel unit including first pixels disposed with a first density in a first area and second pixels disposed with a second density smaller than the first density in a second area in contact with the first area; and a degradation compensator which updates degradation information stored in the memory, based on input grayscales for the first and second pixels, and changes the input grayscales to output grayscales, based on the degradation information. The degradation compensator stores the degradation information in the memory in a unit of block for the pixel unit. The memory stores only first degradation information for each of first blocks including only the first pixels, stores only second degradation information for each of second blocks including only the second pixels, and stores the first and second degradation information for each of third blocks including both the first and second pixels.

Abstract: A controller controls the driving frequency and voltages for a display device. If image data corresponds to a moving picture, the controller drives a data driver and a gate driver at a moving picture frequency. If image data corresponds to a still image, drives the data driver and the gate driver at a still image frequency lower frequency than the moving picture frequency. When the still image is to be displayed, the signal controller also controls leakage current of a thin film transistor of a pixel based on a representative value of the image data, such that positive leakage current applied for a positive data voltage is equal to negative leakage current applied for a negative data voltage.
