Abstract: A light source apparatus includes a light source and a light source driver. The light source includes a plurality of scan blocks. Each scan block includes a plurality of local dimming blocks. The light source driver includes a plurality of channels configured to output light source driving signals to the plurality of local dimming blocks. The light source driving signal includes a light source intensity value representing a light intensity of a local dimming block from among the plurality of local dimming blocks and a delay value representing a degree of a delay of the local dimming block. The delay value is determined by a scan delay value varied according to the plurality of scan blocks and a delay parameter.

Abstract: A method of operating a display device involves detecting whether a frame mode of the display device is a normal mode in which image data are received with a constant frame rate or a variable frame mode in which the image data are received with a variable frame rate. An output buffer drivability of a data driver included in the display device may be set according to the detected frame mode, and an image is displayed by outputting data voltages corresponding to the image data with slew rates corresponding to the set output buffer drivability. Power consumption in output buffer amplifiers may be selectively lowered by setting a relatively low output buffer drivability corresponding to a relatively low slew rate.

Abstract: A display device includes a backlight unit including a plurality of light emitting blocks, a first controller configured to generate first block representative value information for first pixel blocks based on first image data, and a second controller configured to generate second block representative value information for second pixel blocks based on second image data. The first controller receives the second block representative value information from the second controller, and the second controller receives the first block representative value information from the first controller. The first and second controllers generate duty information for the plurality of light emitting blocks based on the first and second block representative value information, and generate light profile information of the backlight unit. The first controller compensates the first image data based on the light profile information, and the second controller compensates the second image data based on the light profile information.
