Abstract: A backlight unit includes a light guide plate that includes a side surface that is an incidence surface that is normal to a first direction, a light source adjacent to the incidence surface, and a light conversion layer disposed on an upper surface of the light guide plate that changes a wavelength of light incident thereto. The light conversion layer includes a first portion and a second portion arranged in the first direction. The first portion is closer to the incidence surface in the first direction than the second portion, and the first portion is thinner than the second portion.
