    Abstract: A display device includes a display unit, an upper electrode layer, a lower electrode layer and an electrochromic layer. The display unit includes a plurality of light emitting diodes disposed in a light emitting area. The upper electrode layer is disposed on the display unit, and includes a plurality of first electrode patterns and a plurality of second electrode patterns. The first electrode patterns are arranged in a first direction, and are electrically connected each other. The second electrode patterns are arranged in a second direction intersecting the first direction and are electrically connected each other. The lower electrode layer is disposed between the upper electrode layer and the display unit. The electrochromic layer is disposed between the upper electrode layer and the lower electrode layer, and includes an electrochromic pattern.

    Abstract: A head-up display includes: a plurality of displays having a plurality of pixels and configured to emit lights from each of the plurality of pixels; a plurality of collimators configured to receive the lights emitted from each pixel of the plurality of pixels of the plurality of displays and output collimated lights by collimating the lights; and a diffractive optical element configured to receive the collimated lights from the plurality of collimators, diffract the collimated lights, emit the collimated lights at angles substantially equal to respective angles at which the collimated lights are incident to the diffractive optical element, respectively, and generate a virtual image by the collimated lights emitted from the diffractive optical element. The head-up display is reduced in size and capable of generating the virtual image at infinity to allow drivers to view the virtual image without shifting their focal point.

    Abstract: An embodiment of a display device includes a substrate, a first light-emitting element, and a light control layer. The substrate includes a display area and a peripheral area adjacent to the display area, and the display area includes a light-emitting area and a light-blocking area. The first light-emitting element is disposed in the light-emitting area on the substrate and emits a first light having a first wavelength range. The light control layer is disposed on the first light-emitting element, and defines an opening exposing a portion of the light-emitting area. The light control layer includes a photochromic material such that in operation a second light having a second wavelength range different from the first wavelength range applied to the light control layer discolors the light control layer.

    Abstract: An optical touch system includes: a coordinate processor; a display device; and an optical element. The optical element is configured to emit light towards the display device and provide information about reflected light corresponding to a portion of the emitted light to the coordinate processor. The display device includes: a display panel configured to display an image, a touch substrate disposed on the display panel, the touch substrate including optical recesses each configured to reflect respectively different amounts of incident light, and a protective layer disposed on the touch substrate. The coordinate processor is configured to determine a touch or near-touch coordinate based on the information received from the optical element.

The substrate includes a first region and a second region. The first set of light emitting structures overlaps the first region. The second set of light emitting structures overlaps the second region. The diffraction layer overlaps the first region without overlapping the second region. The refraction pattern overlaps the diffraction layer. The diffraction layer includes first-refractive-index members and second-refractive-index members that are alternately disposed. A refractive index of each of the first-refractive-index members is lower than a refractive index of each of the second-refractive-index members.
