Abstract: Provided is a liquid crystal display. An exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure provides a liquid crystal display including a first substrate, a thin film transistor located on the first substrate, a pixel electrode located on the thin film transistor, a first roof layer that faces the pixel electrode and is formed of a first color filter layer, a capping layer located on the first roof layer; and a second roof layer that is located on the capping layer and is formed of a second color filter layer, in which a plurality of first microcavities is formed between the pixel electrode and the first roof layer, and the plurality of first microcavities forms a first liquid crystal layer that includes a liquid crystal molecule, and a plurality of second microcavities is formed between the second roof layer and a second substrate that is located on the second roof layer.

Abstract: Provided is a display device that includes: a substrate on which a gate line, a data line, and a thin film transistor are positioned; an insulating layer positioned on the thin film transistor; a pixel electrode positioned on the insulating layer and connected to the thin film transistor; a roof layer that overlaps the substrate; a common electrode that includes a first portion and a second portion; a liquid crystal layer positioned in a microcavity that overlaps with the pixel electrode; and a separating member that is positioned on the insulating layer and overlaps the data line lengthwise. The first portion of the common electrode is positioned between the microcavity and the roof layer, and the second portion of the common electrode is positioned between the separating member and the roof layer.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a display device capable of more stably forming a horizontal electric field. A display device according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes a substrate; a thin film transistor disposed on the substrate; a microcavity having a first side, a second side opposite to the first side, and an upper surface extending between the first side and the second side; a pixel electrode connected to the thin film transistor and positioned along the first side; a common electrode extending along the second side; a roof layer covering the pixel electrode, the common electrode, and the upper surface of the microcavity; and a liquid crystal layer disposed in the microcavity.

Abstract: Provided are a display device and a manufacturing method thereof capable of improving a viewing angle. The display device includes: a substrate; a switching element; a pixel electrode; a common electrode; a roof layer; a liquid crystal layer; and an encapsulation layer. The switching element is on the substrate. The pixel electrode is connected with the switching element. The common electrode is spaced apart from the pixel electrode on the pixel electrode with a plurality of microcavities comprising a microcavity therebetween. The roof layer is on the common electrode. The liquid crystal layer fills the microcavity. The encapsulation layer is on the roof layer to seal the microcavity, in which the common electrode includes a protrusion protruding upwards from a portion contacting an upper surface of the microcavity.
