    Abstract: A robot includes heat-generating members such as an actuator in spaces surrounded by exterior members. A heat-transfer section transfers heat of the heat-generating members to the exterior members. A heat-transfer control section adjusts the amount of heat transfer between the heat-generating members and the exterior members by operating the heat-transfer section. The heat-transfer section has a thermally conductive member that can shift between a coupling position for thermally coupling the heat-generating members and the exterior members, and an interrupting position for interrupting thermal conduction between the heat-generating members and the exterior members.

    Abstract: Provided are a communication system, a transmission apparatus, a reception apparatus, a communication system control method, and a program that permit selection of an appropriate communication path in accordance with the amount of time until data generated by the transmission apparatus is rendered available for use by the reception apparatus. A first transmission section sends encoded data to a first reception section. A second transmission section sends encoded data to a second reception section. The first transmission section has a higher maximum possible transmission rate than the second transmission section. A pre-transmission process execution section encodes data at a higher compression ratio at the time of transmission by the second transmission section than the compression ratio at the time of transmission by the first transmission section. A transmission control section controls which data, the data received by the first reception section or the data received by the second reception section, is used by an HMD based on the amount of time from generation of data to when the data is rendered available for use by the HMD.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a sound outputting apparatus, a head-mounted display, a sound outputting method, and a program each of which enables realistic feeling of an augmented reality space or a mixed reality space to be enhanced. An AR space video image generating section (116) generates an image, of an augmented reality space or a mixed reality space to be displayed on a display section of a head-mounted display, including a part which an image of a virtual reality space occupies, and a part which an image of a real space obtained through photographing by a camera photographing a circumference of a user occupies. A synthetic sound generating section (108) synthesizes a sound of the virtual reality space, and a sound of a real space of the circumference of the user with each other to generate a synthetic sound. A synthetic sound transmitting section (110) outputs the synthetic sound sounded from a speaker arranged in the vicinity of an ear of the user.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a novel head-mounted display on which a video image received through wireless communication at a predetermined frequency is displayed, a display controlling apparatus, a display controlling method, and a program. A video image receiving section (94) receives a video image from an entertainment apparatus (14) through wireless communication at a predetermined frequency. A display controlling section (96) causes the video image received through the wireless communication at the predetermined frequency to be displayed on a display section of an HMD (12) in the case where it is decided that a user mounts the HMD (12). A display controlling section (96) causes a video image acquired by using a method other than reception in the video image receiving section (94) through the wireless communication at the predetermined frequency to be displayed on the display section of the HMD (12) before the video image received by the video image receiving section (94) through the wireless communication at the predetermined frequency is caused to be displayed on the display section of the HMD (12).
