Abstract: Provided are a main beam direction determining device, a main beam direction determining method, and a program which are able to shorten a time required to determine a main beam direction. A secondary candidate sector selection unit selects a second number of primary candidates or a third number of primary candidates as a secondary candidate or candidates in accordance with a communication quality of communication by an HMD, the second number being smaller than a first number, the third number being smaller than the second number. A first sector level sweep process performing unit determines one of the secondary candidate or candidates as the main beam direction.

An image acquisition section acquires an image of an environment in which at least either an HMD or a communication partner for the HMD is placed. Based on the image acquired by the image acquisition section, a frequency band determination section determines the frequency band of radio waves used for communication between the HMD and the communication partner.

Abstract: Provided are a communication system, a transmission apparatus, a reception apparatus, a communication system control method, and a program that permit selection of an appropriate communication path in accordance with the amount of time until data generated by the transmission apparatus is rendered available for use by the reception apparatus. A first transmission section sends encoded data to a first reception section. A second transmission section sends encoded data to a second reception section. The first transmission section has a higher maximum possible transmission rate than the second transmission section. A pre-transmission process execution section encodes data at a higher compression ratio at the time of transmission by the second transmission section than the compression ratio at the time of transmission by the first transmission section. A transmission control section controls which data, the data received by the first reception section or the data received by the second reception section, is used by an HMD based on the amount of time from generation of data to when the data is rendered available for use by the HMD.
