Abstract:
A vidicon tube target structure wherein a n-conductive signal plate has a target surface thereof provided with a p-conductive layer and an array of fine grooves extend from this layer downwardly beyond the p-conductive layer into the signal plate to define an array of mesa-like p-conducitve land areas. The peripheral groove walls are coated with an insulator material while the land areas are coated with a conductive metal. The grooves and lands are configured to provide an increased amount of utilizable effective target surface area for a scanning electron beam.
Abstract:
A method of recording information with a picture storage tube having a memory signal plate of photo diodes, means for generating electron beam and means for deflecting the beam for scanning one side of a memory plate, the method including the steps of erasing the signal plate, writing or recording information on the plate by exposing the one side of the signal plate to radiation containing information to be recorded and reading the information from the plate characterized by changing the value of the potential applied to the signal plate for each of the steps of writing, reading and erasing with the value of the potential applied during the writing step being greater than the potential applied during the reading step and less than the potential applied during the erasing step so that the step of reading the photo diodes of the signal plate is accomplished without erasing the information contained thereon. Preferably, a voltage of +14 volts is applied during the reading step, a voltage of +20 volts is applied during the writing or recording step and erasing is accomplished by applying a voltage of approximately +50 volts.
Abstract:
A transit time tube having a delay line which is arranged between an electron beam generating system and an electron collector, and which contains sections exhibiting different degrees of delay, employs at least one section of the delay line, a phase distortion correction section, which possesses a degree of delay which is reduced relative to the degree of delay of the section at the electron beam generating end.
Abstract:
A reproduction system has an electron tube for generating a beam of electrons which are accelerated toward a semiconducting or insulating window provided in a wall of the tube. The window is coated on its inner side with a conducting layer, and an electric field is established between the conducting layer of the semiconductor and an outer electrode spaced from the window outside the tube. A gas discharge between the outer electrode and the window is controlled by the electron beam, to apply a charge to a paper web in the space between the window and the outer electrode.
Abstract:
A method and device for retrieving information from a matrix of holograms arranged in columns and rows characterized by illuminating the matrix of holograms with a laser illumination and focusing the hologram images on a matrix of photosensitive cells arranged in columns and rows corresponding to the columns and rows of the matrix of holograms, scanning the matrix of photosensitive cells one column at a time and collecting the information transferred to each of the photosensitive cells of the column from its respective hologram. One embodiment of the invention utilizes photoconductive devices for the photosensitive cells of the matrix and an electron beam which is deflected either in a curve path to project on a column with a vertical angle thereto or is deflected twice to insure a vertical angle of incidence on the column. Another embodiment of the invention utilizes a method and apparatus in which the photosensitive cells are photoemissive devices which emit electrons to create an electronic image and includes means for deflecting the image to pass portions from an individual column of the photodevices through a slot onto electron collecting means to obtain the information transferred to the photodevices.
