Abstract:
The present invention provides a microencapsulated pigment, wherein pigment particles having an anionic group on the surface are coated with a polymer comprising a repeating structural unit derived from a cationically polymerizable surface active agent and a repeating structural unit derived from an anionically polymerizable surface active agent and/or a hydrophilic monomer having an anionic group; and a process for producing a microencapsulated pigment, wherein the cationically polymerizable surface active agent is added to and mixed with an aqueous dispersion of the pigment particles having an anionic group on the surface, the anionically polymerizable surface active agent and/or the hydrophilic monomer having an anionic group are added thereto and the mixture was emulsified, followed by adding a polymerization initiator and carrying out emulsion polymerization. In addition, an ink jet recording ink comprising at least the above microencapsulated pigment and water.
Abstract:
An ink jet recording method comprising a step of bringing a first ink composition into contact with a second ink composition on a recording medium to form an aggregate, wherein the first ink composition comprises at least a water-soluble organic solvent, water and a coloring agent comprising a coloring material enclosed with a polymer having an anionic group, and wherein the second ink composition comprising at least a water-soluble organic solvent, water and a coloring agent comprising a coloring material enclosed with a polymer having a cationic group. Also disclosed are ink sets suitable for the ink jet recording method.
Abstract:
An ink composition comprising a resin having a certain chelate structure can realize an image possessing excellent rubbing/scratch resistance and at the same time can realize various properties on a high level required of ink compositions. The ink composition comprises a colorant, water, a water-soluble organic solvent, and fine particles of a polymer, the polymer having a ligand structure capable of combining with a metal ion to form a chelate.
Abstract:
Provided are ink jet ink excellent in dispersion stability and ejection stability and capable of forming images with fastness, abrasion resistance, color developability, and high density with little feathering; a microencapsulated pigment (MCP) providing the ink and a process of making the same; and an aqueous dispersion of the MCP. The MCP comprises pigment particles having a hydrophilic group on their surface (hydrophilized pigment particles) and coated with a polymer by emulsion polymerization. The process comprises emulsion polymerization in the presence of the hydrophilized pigment particles. The ink essentially contains the MCP and water.
Abstract:
There is provided a recording method that can realize images which possess excellent fixation on recording media, excellent rubbing/scratch resistance and good quality. In the recording method, an ink composition comprising at least a colorant, resin emulsion particles, a water-soluble organic solvent, and water and a reaction solution containing a reactant capable of forming coagulate upon contact with the ink composition are deposited onto a recording medium to perform printing. This recording method comprises the steps of: depositing the reaction solution onto the recording medium; depositing the ink composition onto the recording medium to record an image; and washing the recording medium, on which the reaction solution and the ink composition have been deposited to perform printing, with a polar so olar solvent.
