摘要: Technology for guiding a user to collect clinically usable ultrasound images is described. In some embodiments, an ultrasound device may automatically change the elevational steering angle of its ultrasound beam (e.g., using beamforming) in order to collect ultrasound data from different imaging planes within the subject. A processing device in operative communication with the ultrasound device may select one of the collected ultrasound images based on its quality (e.g., select the ultrasound image having the highest quality), and then continue to collect ultrasound images using the elevational steering angle at which the selected ultrasound image was collected.

摘要: In order to prevent color bleeding, a method of volume rendering a three-dimensional (3D) dataset includes identifying, by a processor, a mask that defines a segmented volume within the 3D dataset. The processor identifies a position within the 3D dataset at or adjacent to a boundary defined by the mask, identifies a plurality of voxels within the 3D dataset that are adjacent to the identified position within the 3D dataset, and determine, for each voxel of the plurality of voxels, whether the respective voxel is inside or outside of the identified mask. The processor determines, for each voxel of the plurality of voxels, a weight for the respective voxel based on the determination of whether the respective voxel is inside or outside of the identified mask. The processor determines a voxel value for the identified position based on the determined weights and voxel values for the plurality of voxels, respectively.

The method includes optically representing at least one two-dimensional projection of an image data set that includes a two-dimensional subprojection of at least one image data subset, optically highlighting the at least one two-dimensional subprojection, receiving a user input directed to the selection of a certain subprojection, and optically representing, in accordance with said user input, at least one additional two-dimensional projection of the image data set that includes a two-dimensional projection of the selected image data subset. The method can be used for an image data set that is formed by fusion of at least two source image data sets. The source image data sets can especially comprise computer tomography and a positron-emission tomography image data set.

摘要: A method for performing an open wedge, high tibial osteotomy, the method comprising: identifying a cutting plane through the tibia and a boundary line for terminating a cut made along the cutting plane, wherein the boundary line is located within the tibia, parallel to the anterior-posterior slope of the tibia and parallel to the sagittal plane of the patient; positioning a hollow cylinder adjacent to an exterior surface of the tibia and co-axial with the boundary line; positioning a fluoroscope so that its field of view is parallel to the anterior-posterior slope of the tibia, parallel to the sagittal plane of the patient, and co-axial with the hollow cylinder; imaging with the fluoroscope and observing the profile of the hollow cylinder so as to confirm that the hollow cylinder is aligned co-axial with the boundary line; advancing an apex pin through the hollow cylinder and into the tibia along the boundary line so as to provide a positive stop at the boundary line for limiting cutting along the cutting plane; cutting the tibia along the cutting plane, with the cut terminating at the boundary line; moving the tibia on either side of the cut apart so as to form a wedge-like opening in the tibia; and stabilizing the tibia. A method for performing an open wedge, high tibial osteotomy, the method comprising: identifying a cutting plane through the tibia and a boundary line for terminating a cut made along the cutting plane, wherein the boundary line is located within the tibia, parallel to the anterior-posterior slope of the tibia and parallel to the sagittal plane of the patient; positioning a hollow apex pin adjacent to an exterior surface of the tibia and co-axial with the boundary line; positioning a fluoroscope so that its field of view is parallel to the anterior-posterior slope of the tibia, parallel to the sagittal plane of the patient, and co-axial with the hollow apex pin; imaging with the fluoroscope and observing the profile of the hollow apex pin so as to confirm that the hollow apex pin is aligned co-axial with the boundary line; advancing the hollow apex pin into the tibia along the boundary line so as to provide a positive stop at the boundary line for limiting cutting along the cutting plane; cutting the tibia along the cutting plane, with the cut terminating at the boundary line; moving the tibia on either side of the cut apart so as to form a wedge-like opening in the tibia; and stabilizing the tibia.

摘要: A system and method for rendering an MIP image that has reduced high frequency component loss and reduced chessboard artifacts. The method includes accessing volumetric data, having random noise. Rays are shot, or cast, through the volumetric data, onto a voxel grid, which has grid points. Sampling data along each ray is performed to obtain selected sample data points on the ray and a distance from a selected point to a nearest grid point is determined. A voxel intensity value is accessed at each selected point, as a function of the position of the selected point relative to the nearest grid point. The difference between the voxel intensity at each selected point is minimized an image is rendered from the volumetric data as a function of the minimizing step. Multiple methods may be used to minimize the difference between the voxel intensity at each selected point. These include for example 1.) applying a localized low pass filter, 2.) applying a localized high order interpolation kernel, and 3.) applying localized distance remapping methods.

摘要: A simple “go or no go” ignition coil tester identifies coils that have failed or that are about to fail by driving a coil with sufficient voltage and amperage to operate at its peak output. Coils that have failed or that are close to failure cannot operate at peak output and thus fail the test. A standard kilovolt tester is used to simulate a spark plug and an audio indication of sparking produced by the kilovolt tester is used to confirm operation or failure of the coil. The system dispenses with short circuit and closed circuit test apparatus as well as the structures and failings associated with visual spark indicators.
