A programming language optimized for the specification of inks for a printing system using two colorants, black plus a highlight color. The first group of statements name the primary colors such as black and red or magenta. Next specified are the catalog name and the palettes which make up the catalog. A palette is a collection of inks, each ink being defined as a tile composed of two bit maps which together are referred to as a screen, each bit map identifying the pixels in the tile to be printed in the associated primary color. Each bit pattern line is specified in the language by an equivalent binary number.
Abstract:
A communications switching system is controlled as a peripheral device to a general purpose digital host computer or other host device. The switching system has a plurality of ports for telephone lines and/or trunks and makes connections to the ports. The host computer is programmable at high level to obtain customized switching applications. The switching processes are carried out in the switching system under control of high level commands. The commands are formatted to identify the command functions and the ports at which the switching and control actions are to be carried out. These ports may be provided by separate modular switching units, each having processors for carrying out the switching functions at the designated ports and for distributing the commands in accordance with the command format to the designated port regardless of which of the modular switching units has the port. Responses as to the execution of the switching events are also conveyed to the host computer in a format which designates the response function and the port at which the function occurred. The switching units may be equipped with asynchronous serial data links for connecting one or more host computers or devices to the modular switching peripheral units.
Abstract:
A catalog of fonts, each font differing with the others in the bit patterns contained in its characters which when printed yield a different color, all fonts comprising the same number of identical characters, the characters being a predetermined number of shapes that can be assembled together to form an area. To the printer, the catalog appears to be a number of fonts, and can therefore be accessed by a printer that has a typical hardware system for printing text. However, when printed using a two-color printer, the printed output will be an area of any size filled in with the specified color.
Abstract:
The present invention is a method for taking a named, two-color definition and converting that two-color definition from the form used in highlight-color page composition and print systems into a full-color representation in order to enable the use of the two-color definitions on full-color printers. The method further contemplates the use of an extensible markup language schema to represent and store the equivalent, converted color definitions.

An imaging data stream language, such as, but not limited to an LCDS language can be provided such that a plurality of objects to be rendered are divided into a plurality of categories, wherein each object among the plurality of objects are utilized in association with a plurality of callouts. Each object among the group of objects can be processed separately via a processor from each callout among the plurality of callouts, thereby permitting any of the objects among the plurality of objects to be utilized with any callout among the plurality of callouts in order to efficiently render the plurality of objects utilizing the imaging data stream language. In general, one or more objects can be processed independently of each callout among the plurality of callouts in order to determine a plurality of standard attributes thereof, wherein the plurality of attributes are determined based on at least one object type. Additionally, one or more standard attributes among the plurality of attributes can include, for example, but not limited, the natural size or natural orientation of the object type.
Abstract:
Methods and systems in a printer output device for improving color-imaging rendering utilizing an imaging data stream are disclosed herein. An imaging order is generally associated with the imaging data stream for a plurality of images and overlapping objects to be rendered. The imaging data stream can be designated, such that the imaging order determines color quality rendering thereof. The generated by the printer output device can be rendered utilizing the imaging data stream according to a pre-determined ink color. Imaging separations can also be generated utilizing the imaging data stream, wherein the imaging separations are based on an actual specified color for rendering thereof via the printer output device.
