摘要: One or more intravenous catheter assemblies are monitored to ensure compliance with required hygienic procedures and/or to ensure only persons who have properly sanitized their hands are allowed to attend to such catheter assemblies. Detecting electrodes incorporated as part of such catheter assemblies facilitate determination as to whether potential contamination may have occurred. The hygienic status of a health care worker attending to the catheter assembly, as possibly evidenced by detected use of a sanitizer, may be used to determine whether the catheter assembly is being subjected to contamination.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided for monitoring one or more patients to ensure compliance with required hygienic procedures and/or to ensure only authorized persons are allowed to attend to such patients. One system includes detectors that may be sequentially activated as a person approaches a patient. Activation of the detectors, in sequence, causes a signal to be transmitted by a controller. If the person is wearing a monitor and has complied with the required hygienic procedure, the monitor transmits a responsive signal to the controller that is encoded to indicate such compliance. If the person is either not wearing a monitor or the monitor does not transmit an appropriate responsive signal, the controller can provide a warning signal and cause a violation of protocol to be recorded. The system may include a portable sanitizer that is capable of functioning as a monitor. The systems and methods do not, however, require monitors worn by health care workers or other persons. Sensors may be associated with a hospital bed and/or a patient.

摘要: A mat for a urinal. The mat includes a base, a disk with indicia thereon, baffles, hooks, and an optional container. The container receives either a urinal cake or an annunciator. The annunciator includes an activity switch, a signal conditioner, a counter conditioner, a sensor transducer that is exposed to the stream of urine, and an annunciator display that is visible and activates, either visibly and/or audibly, when the sensor transducer is impinged upon by the stream of urine.

摘要: A therapeutic device is provided for heating or cooling the skin and underlying body tissue. The device includes a handle and a thermally conductive head secured to the handle. The head includes a thermally conductive contact plate which is thermally isolated from the head. One or more Peltier effect devices are provided for heating or cooling the contact plate depending upon the polarity of the current. The head and handle function as a heat sink for dissipating heat generated by the Peltier effect devices. A fan is also provided within the head for heat dissipation purposes. A bag or pouch filled with a thermally conductive fluid may be mounted to the head and positioned adjacent to the contact plate. The bag or pouch conforms to the surface of the body to which it is applied. A porous bag may be employed if moist heat is desired. The contact plate may be connected to a high voltage source if electrical stimulation is desired.

摘要: The present invention involves systems and methods for controlling one or more natural voice controlled smart home devices and services for the generation of a “HELP” push messages on a remote PDA/phone held by a caregiver thereby enabling the remote monitoring of a user's well-being. Activation of a system associated emergency “push button” by the user or the auto activation by a system associated physiologic sensor, or an accelerometer sensor affixed to the monitored user caused by rapid acceleration or deceleration of the user will cause the generation of a control signal activating an annunciator thereby indicating a possible fall or need for help and assistance. Through a cloud-based speech and voice recognition service, the natural user language interface will cause an audible or text push message to appear on a remote caregiver's PDA/phone device thereby indicating an occurrence of the monitored event and alerting the specified recipients.

摘要: A system and methods is provided for facilitating, monitoring and recording caregiver and patient compliance with established hospital hand hygiene protocols. The system comprises a 3-D imaging and monitoring assembly and an optional intelligent programmable monitor/sanitizer. Three dimensional imagery tracks a caregiver's movements and location while generating a representative image value. Information acquired by the imaging system determines the proximity of a caregiver to the patient and/or contamination source and determines if the sanitizers provided have been utilized and if so, at an appropriate time and distance from the patient per hospital protocol. While being monitored, a representative Avatar based on physical characteristics derived from three dimensional images of the caregiver and patient may be generated so as to maintain anonymity of both unless a violation of institutional protocol occurs which may be forensically recorded in real-time for analysis.
