Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques and apparatus for reducing user equipment (UE) capability information message size. A method for wireless communications by a UE is provided. The UE sends a first UE capability information message to a base station (BS) including a first set of UE capability information. The UE sends at least a second UE capability information message to the BS subsequent to sending the first UE capability information message including a second set of UE capability information. The second set of UE capability information does not include one or more UE capabilities included in the first set of UE capability information. The BS receives the first and second UE capability information.
Abstract:
A multi-subscriber identity module (SIM) wireless communication device performing early camping in initial cell selection or reselection may detect an active communication on a modem stack associated with a first SIM, and a condition requiring initial cell selection/reselection on a modem stack associated with a second SIM. In response to receiving a paging message for the second SIM, the wireless communication device may trigger a radio resource to tune to a frequency of an identified target cell of the second SIM, receive a first portion of system information broadcast by the identified target cell, and determine whether initial cell selection/reselection to the identified target cell is complete. In response to determining that initial cell selection/reselection to the identified target cell is not complete, the wireless communication device may save the received paging message, and raise a priority level for the activity on the modem stack associated with the second SIM.
Abstract:
Various embodiments implemented on a multi-subscription-capable communication device (e.g., a mobile communication device capable of supporting more than one wireless subscription) enable a data connection for a blanked subscription to be kept alive during transmit (Tx) blanking by ensuring at least one Packet Data Traffic Channel (PDTCH) transmission is sent to the network before the network's counter for PDTCH transmissions expires.
Abstract:
Methods and devices are disclosed for enabling improved performance on a single-transmit multi-SIM wireless communication device. The wireless communication device may detect a voice communication on a modem stack associated with the first SIM and a data communication on a modem stack associated with the second SIM. The wireless communication device may identify a data rate used by the voice codec to encode uplink traffic channel (TCH) bursts in the voice communication, and determine whether the identified data rate used by the voice codec permits TCH burst cancellation. If it is determined that the identified data rate used by the voice codec permits TCH burst cancellation, the wireless communication device may downgrade a portion of the uplink TCH bursts scheduled on the modem stack associated with the first SIM.

Abstract:
A method for scheduling monitor activity for a mobile communication device includes: receiving less than all of a plurality of bursts for a first subscription; decoding a packet header by decoding the received bursts; determining if a decoded temporary flow identity (TFI) matches a TFI for the mobile communication device; and in response to a mismatch between the decoded TFI and the TFI for the mobile communication device: inhibiting reception of a remaining plurality of bursts; and scheduling the monitor activity in timeslots reserved for the remaining plurality of bursts for the first subscription that do not conflict with transmissions on a second subscription.

Abstract:
A method is provided for implementing a local call hold in a dual subscription dual active first communication device. A first voice call may be established with a second communication device via a first communication network. An indication of a second voice call may be received from a third communication device via a second communication network. The first voice call may be placed on hold by sending a call hold indicator within a regularly transmitted frame to the second communication device. The second voice call may be established with the third communication device after placing the first voice call on hold. The first voice call with the second communication device may be subsequently resumed by excluding the call hold indicator from the regularly transmitted frame to the second communication device.
Abstract:
Various examples for performing remote authentication of a virtual subscriber identity module (SIM) on a multi-SIM, multi-standby communication device include receiving, on a first subscription of the multi-SIM, multi-standby communication device, an authentication request from a virtual SIM network. The multi-SIM, multi-standby communication device may respond to one or more acknowledgement requests sent from the virtual SIM network to the first subscription before tuning from the first subscription to a second subscription of the multi-SIM, multi-standby communication device to send the authentication request to a remote server. Upon receipt of the authentication response from the remote server through the second subscription, the multi-SIM, multi-standby communication device may send the authentication response to the virtual SIM network through the first subscription.
Abstract:
Access terminals capable of employing multiple subscriptions are adapted to prevent out-of-service periods for one or more subscriptions. According to one example, an access terminal can establish a data communication on a first subscription utilizing a first network, and an idle mode connection on a second subscription utilizing a second network. A determination can be made that the first subscription is indicating data transfer. In response to such a determination, the second subscription can attempt a change from a radio access technology associated with the second network to a different radio access technology. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also included.
