Abstract: Aspects directed towards Quality of Service (QoS) flow remapping are disclosed. In an example, upon detecting a mapping reconfiguration of a first QoS flow from a first data radio bearer (DRB) to another DRB, a Service Data Adaptation Protocol (SDAP) control protocol data unit (PDU) is generated indicating that a final SDAP data PDU associated with the first QoS flow has been transmitted on the first DRB. The SDAP control PDU is then transmitted via the first DRB. In another example, upon detecting a mapping reconfiguration of a first QoS flow from a first DRB to another DRB, an end marker parameter is set in an SDAP header of a first SDAP data PDU received from an upper layer after the mapping reconfiguration indicating that the first SDAP data PDU is a final SDAP data PDU associated with the first QoS flow transmitted on the first DRB.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for serving cell management of a user equipment (UE) are presented. Particularly, methods and apparatuses are presented for suppressing a serving cell change based on a speed of the UE. For instance, an example method is presented for serving cell management that may include determining that a serving cell change condition exists for an initiation of a serving cell change for the UE, wherein the serving cell change comprises changing a serving cell of the UE from a macro cell to a low power cell. In addition, the example method may include obtaining a speed of the UE and suppressing the initiation of the serving cell change based on the speed of the UE.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) can establish a first connection using a first radio access technology (RAT), wherein the UE operates in a communication mode having one or more dormant periods with respect to the first connection. The UE can receive a data packet over a second connection using a second RAT, wherein the data packet is from a data flow which is allowed or configured to be delivered via the first connection and the second connection. It can be determined that the data packet is received over the second connection when the UE is operating in a dormant period of the one or more dormant periods with respect to the first connection. A termination of the dormant period over the first connection can be requested based at least in part on determining that the data packet is received when the UE is operating in the dormant period.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for implementing reflective quality of service (RQoS) in wireless communication systems. A method for implementing RQoS that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) generally includes receiving a plurality of downlink user data packets from a first base station (BS), determining at least one reflective quality of service (RQoS) mapping rule for one or more uplink packet transmissions based on a subset of the plurality of downlink user data packets, filtering the plurality of downlink user data packets based on the at least one RQoS mapping rule, and forwarding the plurality of downlink user data packets to a corresponding application entity of the UE based on the filtering.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for avoiding out of order uplink data reception upon data radio bearer (DRB) release or quality of service (QoS) flow addition. An exemplary method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE), includes obtaining an indication that a first data radio bearer (DRB) is released or handed over to a second DRB, wherein a first mapping maps a first quality of service (QoS) flow to the first DRB; obtaining a second mapping that maps the first QoS flow to a second DRB; editing service data adaptation protocol (SDAP) headers of uplink protocol data units (PDUs) in an uplink transmission buffer associated with the first DRB, based on a difference between a first configuration of the first DRB and a second configuration of the second DRB; and transmitting the uplink PDUs via the second DRB.

Abstract: Wireless communication methods, devices, and systems to reduce latency when network access (e.g., cellular network access) is barred are described. A method includes receiving, by a user equipment (UE) from an application, a request for at least one of establishment of a packet data unit (PDU) session or uplink (UL) data transfer via a previously established PDU session. The method additionally includes evaluating that access to a first network (e.g., a 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) network) is barred. The method also includes determining that the access barring time exceeds a threshold, and checking, in response to the determining, that configured policies permit the PDU session to be on a second network (e.g., a non-3GPP network). The method further includes transferring data of the PDU session in accordance with the configured policies. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a processor-readable storage medium for wireless communication are provided. A transmitter transmits data packets to a receiver, encodes the data packets to generate parity packets, stores the parity packets in a retransmission buffer, receives information from the receiver indicating that a data packet was not correctly decoded, and transmits to the receiver the parity packets stored in the retransmission buffer for recovering the data packet not correctly decoded without retransmitting the data packet not correctly decoded. The transmitter may further retransmit to the receiver the parity packets. The transmitted data packets may be encoded at a medium access control (MAC) layer of the transmitter. The retransmission buffer may be located at a radio link control (RLC) layer or a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer of the transmitter. A reordering buffer at the receiver may be located at the RLC layer or PDCP layer.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support mechanisms for identifying hyper frame number (HFN) desynchronization conditions and/or for triggering HFN resynchronization in a wireless communication system. In aspects, an HFN desynchronization condition is identified based on Ethernet frame validation. For example, aspects of the present disclosure provide mechanisms for validating and Ethernet frame. An HFN desynchronization condition is identified or detected when an Ethernet frame is determined to be corrupt based on the Ethernet frame validation in accordance with aspects herein. In some aspects, such as in Ethernet header compression (EHC) protocol implementations, an HFN desynchronization condition may be identified based on a determination that a deciphered context identification (CID) is not a valid CID (e.g., is not a CID in a set of valid CIDs).

An example method generally includes receiving, from a network entity, quality of service (QoS) information, a QoS identifier associated with the QoS information, and a bearer context associated with the QoS information in one of a modify bearer context request message, an activate default bearer context request message, or an activate dedicated bearer context request message; and updating a QoS configuration using the QoS information based on whether the UE is already configured with QoS information associated with the QoS identifier for a bearer context different from the bearer context associated with the QoS information received in the modify bearer context request message, activate default bearer context request message, or activate dedicated bearer context request message.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may identify a bearer (e.g., a default bearer) and request establishment of a second bearer (e.g., a high priority bearer) for use in streaming downlink data from, for example, an application server. The UE may determine a status of a playout buffer and select the first bearer or the second bearer for use in streaming the downlink data associated with the application based on the status of the playout buffer. For example, the first bearer may be used be used by default, and the second bearer may be selected if the amount of data in the playout buffer does not satisfy (e.g., is below) a threshold. In some cases, each bearer may be associated with a transmission control protocol (TCP) port associated with a TCP connection. In some cases, each bearer may be associated with different Internet protocol (IP) address.
