    摘要: An endless power transmission V-belt construction and method of making the same are provided, the belt construction being formed mainly of polymeric material and having rounded top and bottom teeth respectively extending along the length of the top and bottom surfaces of the belt construction, the belt construction comprising a tension section having the top surface, a compression section having the bottom surface, and a load-carrying section disposed intermediate the tension section and the compression section. The quotient of the top width to belt thickness is approximately 2.0, the quotient of the bottom to top tooth pitch is approximately 1.40, the quotient of the bottom to top tooth depth is approximately 1.77 and the quotient of the belt thickness to flex thickness is approximately 3.98.

    摘要: A flexible load-carrying cord which is adapted for embedment in a polymeric product, apparatus and method for making such a cord, and product utilizing same are provided wherein the cord comprises a plurality of elements which are twisted in one direction and normally have a tendency to untwist and a polymeric sleeve is bonded around the cord with the sleeve comprising a polymeric matrix having a plurality of discrete randomly arranged fibers embedded therein with the fibers being disposed in a helical pattern which extends in a direction opposite from the one direction and the sleeve with its fibers serving to substantially eliminate the tendency of the elements to untwist.

    摘要: An endless power transmission belt and method of making same are provided wherein such belt (which may be a toothed belt) is made primarily of polymeric material comprising a compression section having opposed sides and means for stress relief of the belt during operation thereof around associated sheaves and wherein the stress-relief means comprises a plurality of cavities extending into the compression section from each of the sides with each of the cavities defining a corresponding roughly concave surface, each concave surface has a top arcuate portion opening downwardly toward the inner surface of the belt and a bottom arcuate portion opening outwardly toward its associated side with the cavities providing stress relief by minimizing cracking tendencies in the compression section of the belt while reducing the aggressiveness of the belt during operation thereof around the sheaves.

    摘要: A belt pulley and method of making the same are provided, the pulley having a hub and a peripheral groove for receiving part of an endless belt therein that is to drive the pulley or be driven thereby whereby the pulley is adapted to be rotated about a longitudinal axis of the hub. The pulley has a pair of opposed facing sides defining at least part of the groove therebetween and has a pair of oppositely facing outboard sides, the sides each having an inner peripheral portion and an outer peripheral portion. The pulley has a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart and radially disposed substantially straight vanes extending outwardly from at least one of the outboard sides thereof. Each vane has an inner peripheral end and an outer peripheral end respectively disposed adjacent the inner peripheral portion and the outer peripheral portion of its respective outboard side and has an outer edge that is disposed substantially transverse to the longitudinal axis of the hub from substantially the inner peripheral end thereof to the outer peripheral end thereof and is spaced outwardly from the respective outboard side from substantially the inner peripheral end thereof to the outer peripheral end thereof whereby the vanes are adapted to act on fluid adjacent to pulley to tend to cool the pulley with the fluid.

    摘要: A raw-edge, endless power transmission belt is provided which comprises a plurality of layers. At least one of these layers is a fabric layer; another layer is composed primarily of elastomeric material; and at least one further layer is an elastomeric material having a heat-conducting amount of a pyrolytic graphite dispersed therethrough. The pyrolytic graphite-containing elastomeric layer is disposed between any two other layers in the belt and acts to conduct heat to the outside of the belt. Also provided is a method for making this belt.
