Abstract: A head-up display system displays a virtual image superimposed on a real view that can be visually recognized through a window part. The head-up display system includes a display part, an optical system, a light source part, an operation part, and a controller. The controller controls a display area of the display part in accordance with an operation of the operation part by the observer. The light flux emitted from the display part is reflected by the window part and reaches a visually recognizable area where the observer can visually recognize the virtual image. The light emitted from the light source part is reflected inside an area where the light flux is reflected by the window part and reaches the visually recognizable area. The virtual image and the light from the light source part are superimposed, and can be visually recognized.

Abstract: A head-up display of the present disclosure projects a display image on a transparent reflecting member. The head-up display includes: a display device that displays the display image; and a projection optical system that projects the display image displayed on the display device. On an assumption that light reaching a center of a viewpoint region of the observer and corresponding to a center of the virtual image is reference light, the projection optical system includes a prism element that has an incident surface, a reflection surface, and an emitting surface different from the incident surface sequentially in an optical path from the display device. Abstract: A head-up display for displaying an image as a virtual image to an observer includes a projection optical system that includes a lens element and a reflecting mirror. A light beam reaching a center of a viewpoint region of the observer and corresponding to a center of the virtual image is defined as a reference light beam. The lens element is inclined with respect to the reference light beam. The lens element includes an entrance surface on which light of the image is incident, an exit surface from which light of the image emerges, a first edge portion, and a second edge portion. The second edge portion is inclined so that, when light emitted from the image travels through the entrance surface, the second edge portion, and the exit surface in this order, light emerging from the exit surface reaches below a central portion of the reflecting mirror.

Abstract: A video display system according to an embodiment includes a display unit, a projection unit, and a display control unit. The display unit displays an image thereon. The projection unit projects a virtual image corresponding to the image onto a target space with outgoing light of the display unit. The display control unit is able to change a projection distance from a viewpoint of a user, who is viewing the virtual image, to the virtual image projected onto the target space. The display control unit changes the projection distance in a change pattern. The change pattern varies according to situation information.

Abstract: A display device is provided and may include a light source that emits a light beam, a scanner that causes the light beam to scan, a movable screen in which an image is formed by transmitting the light beam from scanner, an optical system configured to project the image on a display medium, and a driver configured to cause the movable screen to reciprocate in moving directions. The image includes a first image and a second image. The movable screen reciprocates in a posture inclined with respect to the moving directions such that a second end of the movable screen is positioned closer to the scanner than a first end of the movable screen. The scanner forms the second image in the movable screen while the movable screen moves such that a forming direction of the second image is inclined with respect to a direction approaching the scanner.

Abstract: Imaging and display system includes: a display; an optical system including a first mirror and a second mirror; a housing; a light-transmissive cover transparent to light and disposed to cover at least part of an opening of the housing; and a driver monitoring camera supported by a supporting body connected outside of the housing. First light emitted from the display passes through the light-transmissive cover via the optical system, and is reflected by a windshield toward a direction of the user. The driver monitoring camera captures an image of a driver shown on the light-transmissive cover by second light from a direction of the driver reflected by the windshield toward a direction of the light-transmissive cover.

Abstract: Head-up display includes display device, projection optical system, a polarization member, and a first polarizer. Display device displays an image. Projection optical system includes refraction lens. Projection optical system projects the image displayed on display device to an observer. The polarization member is disposed between projection optical system and a reflection member that reflects light from projection optical system. Transmittance of the polarization member depends on a polarization direction of transmitted light. The first polarizer is disposed behind refraction lens on an optical path starting from display device. The first polarizer rotates a predetermined polarized component by a quarter of wavelength.
